Upper Kindergarten impressed their audience as they shared fascinating facts about mini-beasts, explained what flowers need to grow, and spoke about what they are most looking forward to during the summer holidays.

It was wonderful to see all of the children speaking, singing, and dancing with such confidence, proudly demonstrating the progress they have made over the past year.

A huge well done to all pupils for their fantastic performances. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved and can't wait to see what next year brings!

Reception were put into teams and tasked with building a bridge for the 3 billy goats gruff using different sweet food items.

Firstly, the teams each had a meeting to discuss their building ideas.

They used icing as their ‘cement’ to piece all of the different parts together. All of the children helped their team with ideas and putting the pieces of the bridge together.

Mr Paine acted as judge and tried to walk the goats across each bridge! He chose one winner for the stability of their bridge and another winner for their style and design. Well done Reception!

Throwing it back to a very special moment earlier this year when we officially opened The Calm Cabin!

Generously funded by the Oaklands Parents' Association, The Calm Cabin was opened on Thursday 12th February during a wonderful ceremony attended by the whole school. Mrs Copeman was joined by our Year 6 Wellbeing Prefects to cut the ribbon, before pupils had the opportunity to step inside and explore their brand-new wellbeing space.

Since opening, The Calm Cabin has become a much-loved addition to school life. Our children have enjoyed many sessions in the cabin, benefiting from a calm and welcoming environment that supports their wellbeing, reflection and personal development.

A huge thank you once again to the Oaklands Parents' Association for helping to create such a valuable space for our pupils to enjoy for years to come.

In June, Oaklands took a team of Year 5 & 6 swimmers to the West Essex Schools Sports Partnership Swim Gala at Waltham Abbey pool.

The competition was very tough, but as ever, our young heroes rose to the test and performed admirably against some talented pupils.

We finished 5th out of 12 schools, which is a great achievement for Oaklands.

Well done to all the pupils who took part.

Our thoughts are with the pupils, families and staff of Avon House following the news of its closure.

We understand this will be an unsettling time for many families, and that finding the right next school is an important decision. As a school of similar size and ethos, Oaklands shares a commitment to a supportive, close-knit community where every child is known, valued and able to flourish.

We have a limited number of places available across several year groups and are here to support families as they consider their options. Our Admissions Team will be available over the next few days/weeks to answer any questions, arrange a personal visit and support families as they explore the next step in their child's education.

Our talented pupils delighted audiences with the school's 2026 production of Ye-Ha! 🤠

Every member of the cast performed with confidence and energy, bringing their characters to life and showcasing the hard work they had put into rehearsals.

Set in the Wild West town of Splodge City, the story followed the townsfolk as they appointed the well-meaning but inexperienced Wilbur as their new Sheriff in a bid to restore order following the antics of the troublesome McNut gang. Along the way, audiences were introduced to a colourful cast of characters, including the scheming Mayor Tex Truman, a mysterious masked hero and her trusty horse Lightning, a pair of questionable tonic salesmen, the local tribe, and some fearless saloon girls, all joining forces in a race to outsmart the villains and uncover the town's hidden treasure. 💰

A huge congratulations to all of our pupils for delivering such a fantastic performance, and thank you to the staff, parents and families whose support helped make the production such a wonderful success.

Today, we celebrate the friendships that make our school community so special.

From the classroom to the playground, friendships help our children grow in confidence, support one another, and create memories that last a lifetime.

On this International Day of Friendship, we are proud to celebrate the kindness and laughter shared by our pupils each and every day.

Here's to the friends who support one another and make every school day a little brighter. Happy International Day of Friendship!
