Outdoor Twilight Soundbath at Epping Forest Field Centre 🌳✨

Yesterday evening, we had the pleasure of hosting Kirsty Sound & Heart at Epping Forest Field Centre for a special Outdoor Twilight Soundbath 🌅🎶

Surrounded by the sights and sounds of Epping Forest, guests could relax as the evening light faded and the sounds of the woodland took over 🌛🦉

We are always delighted to support local businesses and welcome a variety of events to our Field Centre, making the most of this beautiful setting 🌿💫

We hope to welcome Kirsty back for more events like this in the future! 💚

Open Day at Epping Forest Field Centre ☀️🌳

Two weeks ago, we had a lovely day welcoming our local community to the Field Centre!

Around 150 visitors, including families and children, joined us for a range of interactive activities. These included pond dipping, minibeast hunting, rock painting, nature art and learning more about what we do at the centre 🐸🪲🎨🔍

It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the day and discovering more about the work we do at Epping Forest 🌿

A huge thank you to the whole team for all their hard work in making the event such a success and helping us showcase what we do! 💚👏

A special well done to all the students who visited our teaching sites at Epping Forest and across London to complete their fieldwork requirements 🌳🔬

Eco Adventures at Epping Forest! 🌳🥾

Join us this summer for a range of outdoor sessions designed for all ages. Explore the natural world through hands-on activities, games and outdoor discovery 🌿🔍

From minibeast hunts and pond dipping to butterflies, bats and trees, there’s something for everyone to enjoy 🪲🦋🦇

Our tutors are leading Eco Tots and Eco Explorers sessions this week, with Family Nature Discovery Sessions taking place later this month. We’d love to see you there! ☀️

Open Day Preparations ☀️🎉

The whole team has been busy over the summer maintaining and improving the grounds around Epping Forest Field Centre 🌱

With our Open Day taking place tomorrow, the team has been busy making the final preparations to get the centre looking its very best! 🙌

The site is cared for year-round by our General Assistant, volunteers and other members of the team. Recent projects have included replanting our sensory beds, maintaining the sustainability garden, cutting back hedges, clearing overgrown vegetation and repainting our sundial 🌼🎨

A huge thank you to everyone who has helped prepare the centre. We can’t wait to welcome you all to our Open Day tomorrow! 💚

Our team at Epping Forest is looking forward to welcoming visitors to our free Open Day, taking place from 10:00–15:00 🌳

There’ll be a range of interactive activities for all ages to enjoy throughout the day, including pond dipping, sweep netting, nature crafts and much more! 🔍🔬🎨

Local Botany Survey 🌿📝

Our team was busy today out completing a Botany Survey for a local church ⛪️ to support them in their application for their Gold Eco Award application 🏅🍃

The team had great fun practising their identification skills and sharing knowledge with each other 🔍

We love creating partnerships with other local organisations and are waiting in anticipation to hear the good news from the volunteers at the church! 💚

Butterflies at Epping Forest Field Centre 🦋

Today’s sunshine brought plenty of butterflies to the buddleia around the Field Centre! ☀️

Flowers provide an important food source throughout the summer, while butterflies play a vital role as pollinators 🌸 The abundance of flowers around the Field Centre and across Epping Forest creates fantastic habitat for these insects 🌿

Today also marks the start of the Big Butterfly Count 2026! 🦋 From 17 July to 9 August, spend just 15 minutes counting butterflies to contribute to this nationwide citizen science survey with . Your sightings help scientists understand how butterfly populations are changing and support efforts to protect the habitats they depend on 💚
