I’m 29 is it too late to learn how to play an acoustic guitar?

“Yes, you are over the hill.” “Give up now.” “Go and sit on the sofa and binge a Netflix show”
This is what you wan’t me to say, because it would mean you could just become a couch potato and watch TV absolutely guilt free. And wouldn’t that be a nice easy life.
But the truths is, deep down, you don’t want easy. You do actually want to learn the guitar, but you are afraid to fail.
Or afraid that it’s gonna be hard. So you’re sneaky little brain is trying to find a way out of doing something hard.
And it reasons that if a professional guitar teacher tells you that you’re too old to learn then they must be right and so it would be silly to try because you’ll never be able to do it anyway.
Well let me tell you my friend, I have x-ray vision that can see right through your sneaky little brain. And let me tell you both this! You are never too old to learn acoustic guitar. And even better news…
It’s actually not that hard at all!
If a 97 year old came up to me and said I would like to learn to play acoustic guitar, I would say…
… “amazing let’s do it.”
“Give me a month and I’ll have you playing all the chords you need to play song’s by the Beetles, Ed Sheeran, or maybe someone who you love and I’ve never heard of like Artie Shaw (the internet tells me they were big in the 1930s).”
But what I would advise is get some help. There’s a reason we send our kids to school. There’s a reason you get a plumber to fix your s**t ridden pipes. And there is a reason you don’t fly the plane yourself.
A professional has skills that you don’t yet have. They’ve done the hard hours of learning and built up the experience. Let them save you time and effort and show you all the shortcuts so you can avoid the mistakes they made and get your results faster.
So to conclude,
1. You can learn acoustic guitar at any age.
2. It’s pretty easy.
3. Get some help.
