8 years married today 🤍
He proposed after TWO MONTHS.
Meanwhile it took me another 6 months to even tell my parents I had a boyfriend 😂
Then a few months later we were married.
Very sensible. Very well thought through. Absolutely no notes 😂
And somehow, here we are 8 years later having crammed what feels like about 30 years of life into one marriage.
For the first 6 months of being married he worked away, so we only saw each other at weekends. We bought an old house that needed basically everything doing to it, I spent months pregnant there mostly on my own, then we brought a newborn home to what was essentially a building site. At one point all three of us were sleeping in the living room because the rest of the house was chaos 😂
Since then we’ve lost my mum, lost his mum, moved house, had another baby, moved again and generally been thrown quite a lot of life.
But through all of it, he’s just been there.
He’s my rock. He works ridiculously hard and has always made sure me and the kids are looked after. And I know how lucky I am that his hard work means I’ve been able to be at home with our children while they’re little.
I get to do the school runs, the random weekdays together, be there when they’re poorly and just be around for all the boring little everyday moments. I know that’s a privilege and it’s something I’m genuinely so grateful for.
To everyone else he’s strong, quiet and a man of very few words 😂 but with his children he is the biggest softie.
They absolutely adore him. And watching them grow up with him as their example of what a dad and a man should be makes me love him even more.
We’ve had some amazing years and some absolutely s**t ones. We’ve definitely tested the for better or worse bit 😂 but whatever has happened, we’ve always been a team.
Turns out saying yes to a man I’d known for two months wasn’t one of my worst decisions after all 😂
Happy 8 years 🤍
Still thank my lucky stars that you picked me.
Best decision you ever made 😂
