Many visitors and alumni enjoyed climbing the Tower and exploring the archive displays. It is wonderful to see so many people taking the opportunity to discover more about our history and heritage.

Hamza Ali (LGS 2016) reflects on the teachers and opportunities at LGS that first inspired his love of directing, including his experience directing an original play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 📽️

He also shares an insight into his work as an interdisciplinary movement artist, exploring how movement can be used to tell stories, and looks ahead to the next chapter of his career at Nottingham Playhouse.

Look what we uncovered in the archives 📓

This book, dating back to 1877, records the prizes, endowments, and gifts in wills from alumni and friends of the schools. It offers a glimpse into the history of philanthropy and the lasting legacy of those who supported future generations.

Be part of our poppy project!🧶

Get your knitting needles out for Remembrance Day!🪡🧶

In preparation for this year's Remembrance Day, our Wool Club has been busy making handmade poppies from yarn. But now they need your help to turn them into a spectacular display!

The boys would like your help to create your own knitted poppies - any design, large or small, is welcome - the more, the better! You can find poppy patterns to follow on the Royal British Legion website (or by scanning the QR code!)

Please return your finished poppies to the Loughborough Grammar School Reception by the end of October, and get ready to see your creations featured in a wonderful display of community togetherness! Any questions? Please speak to Loughborough Grammar's Librarian, Ms Briers📚

This weekend (19th & 20th) is Loughborough Heritage Weekend.

Come along to LGS between 10am and 4pm and join John Weitzel for the chance to climb the Tower, explore the 1852 Building and discover some of the school’s archives 🖼️

The Parish Church will also be open on Saturday from 10am-4pm, with a guided tour at 2:30pm, and on Sunday between 1pm-4pm, with a guided tour at 2pm. Roger Willson taught at LGS from 1975 until his retirement in 2002. Since then he has continued a lifelong interest in the ‘history around us’ and will share his passion and extensive knowledge with you.
