🌑

Following the excitement of yesterday evening's solar eclipse, we're taking a look back at two memorable eclipses in 1927 and 2015.

In 1927, The Loughburian reported that "A party of 50 boys, under the guidance of Mr. Trowbridge, went to Richmond to see the eclipse. They had the satisfaction of seeing it, but were unfortunate enough to miss the corona. There is no truth, however, in the rumour that owing to their being in the last carriage of an incredibly long train, they never actually reached the belt of totality. York Minister was visited on the return journey."

Fast forward to 20 March 2015, when pupils watched an 87% partial eclipse from school. At LGS, Dr Healey and other members of the Physics Department set up an array of instruments to enhance the experience ➡️https://ow.ly/AVCc50ZzjTg

Be part of our poppy project!🧶

The LGS Wool Club is creating a display of handmade knitted and crocheted poppies for Remembrance and is inviting alumni to get involved.

Over the summer, we'd love you to make as many poppies as you can. Any size or design is welcome, or you can use the Royal British Legion patterns:

Donations of red, black and green wool for the boys to use would also be gratefully received.

Please hand your completed poppies and any wool donations to LGS Reception. Include your name and contact details with your donation so we can record everyone who has contributed in the LGS archive.
