Our Athlete Mentors demonstrate first hand that sport can change lives and it's wonderful having them supporting us at the School Games National Finals this year! π
The Athlete Enrichment programme is designed to help athletes get even more from their School Games National Finals experience.
Alongside competing, athletes will have the opportunity to learn from athlete mentors, reflect on their performances, watch other sports and take part in the exciting Obstacle Course Experience. πββ‘οΈππ
Supporting athletes every step of the way will be a team of experienced athlete mentors, who will share their own journeys, support participants in navigating performance outcomes, and encourage post-match reflection and goal-setting.

The School Games National Finals are back for 2026 and will once again be returning to Loughborough University from 03 to 06 September. π
This event aims to;
π
Provide positive experiences for children and young people β the games seeks to lead the way in role modelling how this can be achieved through competitive sport and major events.
π
Tackling inequalities β working with sports to catalyse novel, contemporary approaches to broaden access to talent pathways for athletes from more diverse backgrounds. Such as adjusting their selection policies and integrating new approaches and methodologies which embed inclusive practice.

During the 2026 Commonwealth Games β which saw elite sport returning to the same location as the first ever School Games National Finals β an incredible 180 School Games National Finals alumni represented the Home Nations, meaning that nearly a third of Home Nations athletes began their journey at School Games National Finals. π
Collectively, School Games National Finals alumni enjoyed remarkable success, winning 28 gold, 43 silver and 36 bronze medals. Their combined tally of 107 medals would have been enough to place them third in the overall Commonwealth Games medal table. π
Several former School Games National Finals athletes delivered standout performances, with Scotlandβs Josh Kerr, not only winning Gold, but breaking the mile world record as well.

At the School Games National Finals, young people get the opportunity to compete in a wide variety of sports. It's great to see so much passion, talent and dedication in one place. π
Here are just a few of the sports you can expect to see during the finals!
BMX Freestyle
This year will see a combination of two cycling disciplines across the three days of competition. A combined competition on the Saturday followed by a βShowcase Eventβ for BMX Freestyle on Sunday on Shirley Pearce Square.
BMX Racing
BMX Racing is an explosive, high-speed cycling sport. Riders compete on a dirt track with jumps and banked corners.
Cricket
Cricket returns for another year of action at the School Games National Finals with three more teams added to the competition for 2026.
Hockey
Hockey returns to the School Games National Finals, providing plenty of action over four days of competition.
