This week is Dyslexia Awareness Week.
What is dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that lots of people have. It's estimated up to one in every 10 people in the UK has some degree of dyslexia. Intelligence isn't affected, but somebody with dyslexia may experience difficulties with their reading, writing or spelling.
How can I support my child?
🟣 Inform your child's school if you think they may have dyslexia - they will be able to offer support during lessons.
🟠 Break down tasks into manageable steps or instructions that are easy to follow.
🟣 Repeat instructions or tasks - this gives time for children to process what they need to do.
🟠 Use technology - find online apps or resources to help support your child with reading and writing.
🟣 Be patient - with your child and yourself!
