On Tuesday, Amherst had the great pleasure of hosting acclaimed writer Philippa Gregory who visited the School to speak about her new book 'Normal Women: Making History for 900 Years', conduct a Q&A and chat to staff, pupils and parents at a book signing afterwards. Her talk gave a fascinating journey through womens' positions in society over time and we were treated to insightful stories and historical facts made all the more colourful through Gregory’s humour and charm.

Last week, we celebrated two unforgettable evenings marking the close of an important chapter for our Y11 and Y13 students. Our Year 11s arrived in true style, from glamorous gowns and tuxedos to a tractor! The Monte Carlo-themed night featured a formal three-course dinner, games, refreshments, and dancing. It was a joy to see our students shine as they marked the end of their exams with elegance and excitement.

To mark the final A Level exam, Year 13s and their families gathered for a sparkling evening of drinks, canapés, and heartfelt words from our interim Headteacher, Mrs Davies.

Years 2-6 had an amazing time on their residential. They particularly enjoyed building rafts and high-ropes challenges, where they developed resilience and faced challenges.

This poem, shared with Year 11 by Mr Rees, was too good not to share. To all pupils sitting public exams, we wish you every success.
