Our Early Years had lots of fun creating a fish tank and fish puppets using recycled cardboard 🐟. The children really enjoyed the hands-on experience and expressed their creativity while learning about recycling and sea life. It was wonderful to see their imaginations come to life!

Today, our Early Years children thoroughly enjoyed a walk to collect blackberries.
Before setting off, we discussed road safety with the children, emphasising the importance of holding hands and staying clear of busy roads throughout the journey.

During the walk, we pointed out various letters and numbers in our environment, such as door numbers and street signs, helping them engage with our community.

Upon arrival, we reminded the children to pay attention to what they were picking, informing them about the spikes on blackberry bushes that protect the fruit as it grows. We demonstrated safe methods for picking the berries and discussed the different colours blackberries can be and when they are ripe for picking. The children had a fantastic time gathering the juicy berries, and we can't wait to bake with them once they've been washed!

Recycled Sports day!
Over the past fortnight, our early years children have been exploring recycling, discussing how we can transform various items and turn nothing into something amazing. In line with this, our Education team challenged the early years staff and children to create sports day activities using solely recycled materials. We engaged the children in conversations about their ideas and what we could use to bring them to life. The children took great pride in participating in this project, and they have thoroughly enjoyed playing in the garden with their creations ever since everything was ready!

National Baby-Led Weaning Day 💛

Baby-led weaning gives children the opportunity to explore food independently, helping to build confidence, support fine motor development and encourage a positive relationship with food from the very start.

We know that every family's weaning journey is different. That's why we take time during the settling-in process to understand each family's preferences and chosen approach. Whether parents opt for baby-led weaning, purées or a combination of both, it's always led by parental choice, with our nursery teams there to provide support every step of the way.

Through close partnerships with families, we create positive mealtime experiences where children can safely explore a variety of tastes and textures at their own pace. As they do, they're developing independence, self-confidence and important skills that support their wider learning and development.
