Another great result I have just heard:
"Hi Julie. I achieved a grade 9 in my iGCSE and a grade 7 in further maths GCSE. Thank you very much for helping me throughout year 11 and I'm positive that without your help I would not have achieved such results. Thank you very much."
Julie's maths tuition online
I am a maths graduate and qualified teacher with many years of teaching maths in schools.
I am now providing maths tutoring online to students from year 10 to year 13.
Received some wonderful comments from students who have just received their GCSE results:
"Thank you so much!!! Tuition helped greatly as I’m now leaving with a GCSE level 7 in maths compared to my expected 5. You were an amazing help for me."
"Just received my grades and I am amazed at my maths grade! I got an 8! Thank you so much you have been a massive help. Never thought I would be able to jump two grades in such a short amount of time. Again thank you so so much!"
Hi. We have reached that time of the year again - tutoring is over, exams have been sat, marking is completed, and we can relax!
Since most of my students completed their exams and left, I have been incredibly busy with marking! Firstly the KS2 SATs (which I have done for over 25 years!), and then 4 different maths GCSE and iGCSE papers for Pearson Edexcel. But now that is completed, and we just await the results in August.
It has been another busy year of tutoring. I have reduced to 4 days a week, but they have been full days, and I have again had to turn students away.
I do have spaces from September, so if you are interested please message me. Based on previous years, those spaces won't remain free for long!
Have a great summer - particularly those students who have been working so hard towards their exams this year.
I am aware that there has been an item on the BBC News about the fact that some private tutors do not have DBS checks, and their previous record is not checked.
I would like to assure you that I DO have a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service), and am registered with their Update Service, so this can be regularly checked. I also undergo regular training in Keeping Children Safe.
It is a concern that some tutors are not checked, and I would recommend that if you do decide on tutoring for your child, whoever that is with, you check that they have the necessary paperwork. It is the responsibility of us all to keep children safe.
Lovely comment from a student:
I got my GCSE results yesterday and I got a grade 7 in maths and I just want to thank you so so much as I wouldn’t have been able to do it without your help .
Congratulations to my students who received their results on Thursday - some great results, which are a tribute to all your hard work.
Good luck to my GCSE students who will get their results on Thursday.
Here is a little maths question, which may divide opinion!
Which of these is correct?
15 - 3 + 2 = 10
15 - 3 + 2 = 14
Please comment with your answer - and explain why!
Thought I would share a comment I recently received from a parent:
"I would like to express my gratitude for supporting [my daughter] with her learning, she has made good progress with your help."
Hi! I realise that it is a year since I posted on here, and that is because I have been so busy, and I certainly didn't want to encourage more people to contact me to ask for tutoring!
Over the course of the academic year I have tutored 26 students, and have taught for up to 30 hours a week - as well as planned individual lessons for each student. In addition to students in the UK I have taught students from seven other countries - and I love the variety which this brings.
The coming year will be my fourth year of tutoring full-time and I absolutely love it! Being able to engage with a wide variety of students and share my passion for maths is my ideal job. Seeing their confidence increase as the weeks go on, and watching them get ever closer to achieving their full potential in maths is just so rewarding.
I have now said "farewell" to many of my students as they have taken their GCSE or A Level exams, and I wish them every success in their futures.
That does mean that I have some vacancies for September, and I am concentrating on students in years 10 & 11, or years 12 & 13. This is where I believe I can make the most difference, which is what it is all about. I am dismayed by the number of schools where students are being taught maths by non-specialists, as I know what a difference it makes when a teacher has a thorough grounding in their subject, and a passion for it.
So, if you are interested to know more please get in touch using my email address [email protected].
If you are the parent of a Y9 or Y10 student (or a student yourself), and, following end of year exams, you feel that a boost would be useful as GCSEs approach, then I am sure I can help.
Similarly, if you have completed Y12, and would like support going forward into Y13, I can help with pure maths and mechanics.
Or if you have finished your GCSEs and are planning on maths A Level, I can support you with the transition.
Based on previous years I anticipate that my timetable will fill up quickly, and I hate having to turn people away - so get in touch as soon as you can!
I don't teach during August (once a teacher, always a teacher!), but am available for September starts.
Please share this if you know of anyone who may be interested - including overseas.

Here is an idea if you are wondering what to ask for on your birthday! Before you work it out, how much do you think it will be ? Then work it out. Is it more or less than you thought?
As I have said goodbye to Y11 students, I am continuing to work with other students, and already have some new ones coming on board for September.
It will be my third year of tutoring entirely online, and I had to turn a number of students away last year when I realised I really couldn't manage more than 30 hours a week tutoring, together with planning individual lessons for each student.
So it's a good time to get in touch if you are interested in tutoring from September.
I provide online maths tutoring for students from Year 6 to Year 13. For Year 10 and 11 students I am fully conversant with the GCSE courses with Edexcel or AQA, or iGCSE.
My lessons are fully interactive and planned to meet the individual needs of the student. I am also happy to work with groups of two or three students together.
If you are interested, contact me at [email protected] and we can discuss your requirements.
Please feel free to share this post if you have friends or family who may be looking for tutoring.
Hi! It's that time of year again - when I have said farewell to my Y11 students and wished them all the best with their futures.
It has been great to see them flourish in our sessions - growing in confidence and understanding as they have worked towards their exams.
I have had some really kind messages from parents over the past few weeks - here are a few:
“I wanted to say thank you for working with (my son) over the last year. His confidence with Maths has grown massively and he has always been really positive about the lessons.”
“I just wanted to also say a massive thank you for all your help and support with (my son). He is definitely more confident in maths and believing in himself.”
“Thanks for all your work with (my son). It has helped him no end.”
“Thanks for all the work that you have done with (my daughter) this year.”
“Thank you so much for helping him reach his potential with his GCSEs and getting him off to a good start with his A levels.”
They have worked so hard, and deserve every success. I look forward to hearing from them on results day!
