We are delighted to introduce Charlie, who has recently joined our team of experienced tutors.

Charlie is offering ONLINE 1:1 sessions in:

Our sessions are designed to support children in a friendly, small-group environment where they can:

🔢 Countdown-style Maths Challenge!

This numbers activity is a brilliant way to build number skills quickly. These are used so frequently in our tutoring sessions.

The goal is simple: use the numbers to reach the target number. But you don’t have to get it exactly! Getting as close as you can ... and getting a little closer each time ... is where the real progress happens.

Because of that, there’s no need for different levels. Everyone can take part and challenge themselves.

This one activity builds so many skills:
➕ mental maths
🧠 number sense
🔍 problem solving
⚡ quick recall of operations

It’s quick to set up, engaging, and children love the challenge of beating their previous score.

First reel… eeek! 😊

One of my favourite parts of tutoring is finding creative, hands-on ways to make learning feel achievable, engaging and even fun.

A quick trip to The Works and £17 later, I’ve added some brilliant little tools to my collection — whiteboards, dice, lollipop sticks, notebooks and more. Simple resources like these can make such a big difference in building confidence, practising key skills and helping learning stick.

I especially love using dice for maths games, lollipop sticks for sentence building and matching activities, and whiteboards for low-pressure practice where mistakes feel safe.

You don’t need expensive equipment to support learning, just a bit of creativity and the right approach.

I’ll be sharing how I use these over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out!

And yes… coffee and cake was absolutely essential research fuel ☕🍰

📚 Autumn Term Tuition Update! 🌟

We’ve had lots of interest in tuition over half term following many schools’ parents’ evenings — and The Learning Spot is now delivering nearly 40 hours of tuition each week! 🙌

Some of our tutors are increasing their hours, and we have new tutors joining us soon, so there’s even more choice on the way!

🕓 After-School Sessions
We have a range of after-school tuition slots available for primary and secondary learners — perfect for boosting confidence, filling gaps, or getting ahead as the term continues.

👩‍🏫 Small Group Sessions
Our group sessions have a maximum of 4 children, allowing for a very personalised approach while adding the benefit of peer interaction and shared learning — helping learners build confidence, teamwork, and motivation as they learn alongside others.

☀️ Daytime Sessions
We also have a few daytime slots — ideal for home-educated students, those on flexible timetables, or even adult learners who want to build skills or confidence.

💡 All our 1:1 sessions are completely personalised and can be 45 minutes or 1 hour, depending on what works best for you.
