Four spaces have unexpectedly become available for our Nutrition & Cookery Workshop with Emmamarshallnutrition on 17th September following a cancellation.

Emma’s days at Yarrow are incredibly practical and personal. She begins with an evidence-based nutrition session followed by a Q&A, and we always suggest bringing a notebook and any questions you’ve been wanting to ask.

There’s lots of time over coffee and throughout the day to chat to Emma about those little nutrition niggles, confusing advice or things you’d simply like to understand better, so you can leave with information that actually feels relevant to you.

After the presentation and Q&A, Emma takes everyone into the kitchen and teaches a few of her favourite nourishing recipes. She also prepares lunch for everyone to sit down and enjoy together, with all the recipes provided to take home.

It’s a brilliant day if you’d like to cut through some of the noise around nutrition, ask the questions that matter to you and come away with practical ideas you can actually use.

Thursday 17th September
10am–2pm

Trying something new can feel a little daunting when you don’t quite know what to expect.

Otto first came through our doors feeling nervous. Very quickly, he found himself cooking, chatting and enjoying the day with lots of new, friendly faces.

You never need to arrive already knowing what you’re doing. We spent a long time creating a space that we hope, makes all our guests, feel instantly at ease. We believe it's one of the most important elements of Yarrow.

Thank you, Otto, for sharing your story with us and for being part of our lovely growing community here.

Have you ever felt nervous before going to a cookery class?

A little glimpse of summer at our Scottish cookery school 🌿

The last few weeks have been very full in the best possible way. Lots of happy days cooking together around the island, amazing food, long lunches and people travelling from near and far to spend the day with us.

We still love how many people arrive at Yarrow and tell us they had no idea we were here. Hidden away inside the old restored Steading in East Lothian, just 18 minutes from Edinburgh, it really does feel like somewhere you can disappear to for the day, cook, eat and spend time well together.

The school has been full of home-grown cut flowers this summer, and our new gardens are beginning to supply more and more for the kitchen too.

Behind the scenes we’ve also been working on some of our favourite recipes for a very exciting new project… all to be revealed soon.

We absolutely love what we do, but after a very full summer Richard and I are definitely due a little break too. From tomorrow we’re taking a week away with the girls and properly switching off for a few days.

So before we go, here are 16 little moments from summer at Yarrow.

And when we’re back, we’d genuinely love to know what you enjoy seeing most from us here. The food and recipes, behind the scenes, the gardens and old Steading, or more of what a day at Yarrow actually feels like?

We can’t quite believe we are writing this again.

Yarrow has been shortlisted for Cookery School of the Year in the Condé Nast Food and Travel Reader Awards 2026.

Yarrow is still such a young cookery school, so to find ourselves listed again alongside some of the most established names in the industry feels incredibly special.

If you have visited Yarrow and enjoyed your time with us, we would be hugely grateful for your vote. It only takes around two minutes, and it really does help small independent businesses like ours be seen by more people.

Thank you, as always, for supporting Yarrow and helping us reach this point.
