What a lovely first 3 days we had back at preschool last week and all the children settled in really well and enjoyed the activities and fun we had in the garden 😊

We’re looking forward to meeting the new children and families that are starting this week and learning all about you too. The weather is looking great ☀️so plenty more fun in the sun.

Would just like to add how smart & cute all the children look in their school uniform ❤️

All the Auntie’s and staff at Molly’s would like to send a big warm welcome to all our new children and families starting and a welcome back to our existing children and families 👋🏼

It’s been 6 months since we’ve seen some of you and we’re really looking forward to seeing you when we start back on Wednesday 2nd September.

Our focus for the first week and the 2 weeks following will be “All about me” and this is where we can learn all about your children, from their likes/dislikes, favourite toy, book film etc, who lives with them in their house, if they have any pets. By having the focus for 3 weeks we get to learn a lot about your child and they can share their important information with us, for example being able to ride a bike, learning to swim, can count to 10. No matter how small you think the achievement maybe we would like to celebrate that with your child.

16.03.20 🦖🦕Dinosaur week 1 🦕🦖

This is our first week of us exploring about dinosaurs, we have lots of palaeontologist at Molly’s so hope they enjoy the activities available. Dinosaurs 🦕🦖are popping up everywhere this week, swimming in the water 💦 tray, hiding in the kinetic sand in the tuff tray, make dinosaurs cookies out of play dough and on the painting table paint a cut out of a dinosaur 🎨
In the small world we have 2 dinosaur worlds set up and in the home corner they have come for dinner! In the green room there’s lots of books to explore & read and on the colouring table we have some stencils 🖍In the garden we’re going on a dinosaur 🦕 hunt 🦖using binoculars & magnifying glasses 🔍 to find the footprints.

09.03.20 Shapes & Colours wk 3 ⭕️🛑🔲♦️

This is our final week exploring colours & learning about shapes and what a colourful week we have at Molly’s this week ❤️🟡🔶🟦
Using scrapers in the tuff tray they can spread the paint around making patterns & mixing together the colours. In the water 💦 tray catch the shapes & numbers using the fishing nets and in the play dough imprint duplo blocks to see what shapes they leave. In the messy tray for the children to explore will be coloured pasta and rice, lots of different textures to feel and play with. Using cardboard tubes & paint sticks were making superhero 🦸🏼‍♂️🦸🏼cuffs so the children can wear them and extended their imagination in role play. Match the duplo squares & rectangles to make the correct number and fingers crossed the weather is kinder this week in the garden we have new pattern rollers to play with in the sand and a colour hunt 🖍to go on.

Don’t forget tomorrow is World book day & the children can come dressed up as there favourite character 😊

Week 2 of shapes & colours ❤️💙🟡🟢

More colourful fun this week from finding the hidden gems 💎 in the sand & matching it to the correct colour bowl. In the water tray it will be filled with water beads where they can be poured into a container and measured. In the play dough they can in-print shapes and patterns. Something completely different in the painting area 🎨and instead of painting on the table this week they can paint under the table 😃using the paint dobbers. Extending maths were be looking at drawing and talking about 2D & 3D shapes and there properties. The physical activity indoors is the A frame with ladder & slide. On the light box they can build with the see through shapes.Weather permitting outside using coloured crayons 🖍 they can explore the garden and make rubbings of shapes they can find in the environment.

Shapes & colours will be our focus for the next 3 weeks. We wanted to extend our focuses to 3 weeks so we have more time to explore, extend, learn and for the children to investigate their interests and for us to help feed their knowledge. ‘Messy play’ will play a bigger part in their learning as this increases their motor skills and expands their language.

So for this week it will be free painting 🎨 shaped cutters on the playdough table and back indoors is the sand tray. Using the light board they can look through the coloured wooden shapes to see if the colour changes. Lots of colourful fun to explore and play 😊
