REGISTERED MANAGER

Location: Swanley, Kent

Are you a dedicated and experienced leader looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people?

We are seeking an exceptional Registered Manager to lead our Therapeutic Children’s Home for up to six young people.

About Us

Our home provides a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children. With a strong emphasis on therapeutic care and emotional well-being, we aim to support our young people to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

The Role
As the Registered Manager, you will:

Provide strong leadership and management to the team

Ensure the home operates in compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards

Deliver high-quality, child-centered care that meets the therapeutic and emotional needs of young people.

Oversee all aspects of the home, including safeguarding, staffing, budgets, and care planning.

Build positive relationships with young people, their families, and external stakeholders.

Develop and maintain a trauma-informed culture within the home.

What We’re Looking For:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Experience:

At least 2 years’ experience in managing a children’s home

Qualifications:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

A therapeutic qualification or experience is highly desirable.

Knowledge:

A strong understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, and trauma-informed care practices.

Skills:

Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

Passion:

A commitment to improving outcomes for young people with complex needs.

The ideal candidate will have worked in a therapeutic children’s home previously and are committed to working in a therapeutic way with children and young people who through past negative experiences find themselves being looked after by us.

To be able to understand how these negative experiences impact the child and how they can act out inner conflicts in at times a very challenging way is absolutely essential and to be able to do that the successful candidate will be empathic, resilient, physically and emotionally fit. In your application form you will need to highlight these skills and this is through completing a personal statement. To be considered for the upper end of the scale you need to demonstrate experience of shift leading and being on call.

Working with 5 children in a children’s home. Experience essential. Shift work.
Must have a DBS. Must have experience of working in a children’s home.

Taking care of basic needs
Taking care of emotional needs
Enjoying activities of which there are plenty including a annual holiday.

The children we work with need people to stick by them and stay. They don’t need people who feel this is a gap job. We work with attachment theory and in a therapeutic way. It is essential that applicants understand the unconscious processes that come with this work and are able to commit to the job for the medium to long term.
