πŸ“± Reminder About Casio Calculators

A reminder from Mr Worrall, Head of Maths:

If you haven't already purchased a calculator for the new school year, we strongly recommend a Casio Scientific Calculator. These calculators are currently on offer at Tesco, making now an ideal time to buy one.

In Maths, all of our calculator teaching is based around the functions and layout of Casio scientific calculators. This helps students build confidence and become familiar with the methods and shortcuts they will use throughout their studies.

Using the recommended calculator can be a real advantage, especially as students move towards their GCSE examinations, where speed, accuracy and familiarity with the calculator can make a significant difference πŸ“šβž•βœ…

As part of our Summer Celebration Assembly, while pupils entered they enjoyed a video showcasing photographs and memories from throughout the year. The video highlighted just how much our pupils have achieved, from exciting educational visits and enrichment opportunities to individual successes both in and out of school.

It has been a truly successful year, and we are incredibly proud of every one of our pupils for their hard work, resilience and achievements.

We would like to wish all of our pupils and families a safe, enjoyable and relaxing summer holiday, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another fantastic year ahead. β˜€οΈπŸŒŸπŸ‘

β˜€οΈπŸŽ‰What a wonderful way to end a hugely successful year! β˜€οΈπŸŽ‰

This morning, our whole school came together for our Summer Celebration Assembly, joined by nearly 100 parents and family members. We were delighted to recognise the achievements of our pupils through attendance awards, credit awards, our exciting Spin the Wheel credit prizes, subject awards and value awards.

It was fantastic to celebrate the hard work, dedication and successes of so many children, with such incredible support from our school community. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event so special.

A lovely occasion and the perfect way to sign off another successful year. We wish all of our families a happy, safe and enjoyable summer break! πŸŒŸπŸ‘

Today, our library was buzzing as students took part in our Summer Book Swap!

Students exchanged pre-loved books for new reads to enjoy over the summer holidays, discovering new authors and refreshing their reading collections along the way.

🌿 Garden Renovation Update – Phase Two Complete! 🌿

Our fantastic team of helpers worked hard again today to transform the space. Together, they moved an impressive 8 tonnes of stone, painted a table, positioned new planters, filled the planters they had built, and even completed some wonderful wall art to brighten up the area.

A huge well done and thank you to our pupil helpers:

πŸ‘ Harry B, Riley E, Miles P, Marley C, Cleo H-S, Matthew B, Amelia C, Anya R, Arthur M-M, Saul S and Marcus W

Most were Year 10 ASDAN students, but they were also accompanied by some Year 9s and a Year 7 today.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mrs Baker’s son, Jake, Mrs Armes and our site team, whose support and hard work today helped make this stage of the project such a success.

The garden is looking better than ever, and we are excited to continue the transformation. Further work will begin in the autumn, so watch this space for more updates!

🌟 Introducing Our Fifth School Captain – Esther! 🌟

We are delighted to announce Esther as our fifth School Captain!
Esther brings enthusiasm, creativity and dedication to the role, alongside a genuine passion for making a positive difference within our school community. Her commitment to listening to others and representing student voice was a key motivation for applying.

πŸ—£οΈ β€œI’m passionate about making a difference and listening to suggestions from other students.”

As School Captain, Esther is looking forward to developing her leadership and public speaking skills while ensuring she leaves β€œa worthwhile legacy” for future students.

🎭 🎢 Beyond her leadership role, Esther has a real love of the performing arts and embraces every opportunity to perform on the piano, violin or through singing.

🀝 Esther is also working towards her Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, volunteering each week at a local charity shop. Through this experience, she has enjoyed building connections within the community and giving back to others.

When asked which of our school values resonates most with her, Esther chose Ambition:

⭐ β€œI strongly believe that you can do anything you set your mind to if you’re willing to put in the effort.”

We look forward to seeing Esther’s enthusiasm, determination and commitment shine throughout her time as School Captain.

πŸ‘ Congratulations, Esther! We are incredibly proud of you and can't wait to see all that you achieve.

🍰 Community Comes Together for Charity Afternoon Tea β˜•πŸ’™

We were delighted by the fantastic turnout for our recent Afternoon Tea event and would like to thank everyone from our community who joined us.

Guests enjoyed a wonderful selection of sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and an amazing variety of homemade cakes, all carefully prepared by our talented Year 10 Food Technology students. It was especially heartwarming to see so many people coming together to support such an important cause, with all proceeds from the event being donated to Nelson's Journey.

Our students worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to prepare the food and thoroughly enjoyed serving and waiting on guests throughout the afternoon. Their enthusiasm, professionalism, and teamwork helped make the event such a success.

A huge well done to everyone involved, and a special thank you to our dedicated Food Technology team, Mrs Backhouse and Mrs Wilby, for organising such a lovely event and creating a memorable afternoon for all.

πŸ’™ Thank you for helping us support a truly worthwhile cause.

🌟 Meet Our School Captain: Mia 🌟

We are delighted to introduce Mia, one of our School Captains for the coming year. Mia is a dedicated, ambitious, and hardworking student who is passionate about making a positive difference within our school community. We are incredibly proud to have her as part of our student leadership team and look forward to seeing all she achieves in this important role.

πŸ’¬ Mia said:

"I applied for this role because I want our school to be a place where every pupil feels safe, happy, and inspired to learn. I also hope to leave a positive legacy and help create an environment where all students can achieve their full potential."

"My favourite subjects are History and PE. I love learning about the past, and PE helps me develop skills that will support my future goals."

"Outside of school, I live and breathe football! I am a huge Liverpool FC supporter and currently play for Ipswich FC and Norfolk FC. Soon, I will also be joining Cossey Ladies FC. I play football four times a week and regularly go to the gym. My dream is to become a successful footballer and, one day, a football coach."

Mia's commitment, determination, and enthusiasm make her an excellent role model for younger students. We are incredibly proud of her achievements both in and out of school and can't wait to see the positive impact she will have as one of our School Captains.

πŸ‘ Congratulations, Mia – we know you'll do a fantastic job!

🌿πŸͺ΄ Year 10 ASDAN Students Get the Garden Ready! πŸͺ΄πŸŒΏ

Our fantastic Year 10 ASDAN students have been hard at work in the school garden again today as they continue transforming the area into a space the whole school community can enjoy.

With the delivery of stones due on Thursday, the students spent the day preparing the ground and getting everything ready for the next stage of the project. Their teamwork, effort, and determination were impressive to see, and they should be very proud of the progress they've made so far.

And there was an unexpected surprise along the way... πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈβœ¨ they even discovered some treasure while digging!

A huge thank you to everyone supporting this project. We look forward to sharing more updates as the garden continues to take shape.
