Next up in our Meet the Team series is Liv, our Academy Assistant and LAMDA teacher! 💛🖤

Liv’s PQA superpower is making people feel supported, confident and capable, whether that’s in the studio, behind the scenes or while stepping into something new.

The show she would happily watch again is Mamma Mia! With its feel-good music, incredible energy and songs you can’t help singing along to, it’s easy to see why! 🎶

Liv’s hidden talent is remembering song lyrics...even ones she hasn’t heard in years!

And one thing you might never guess about Liv? Her day-to-day career is in health and safety, as she also has such a wonderfully creative side!

DID YOU KNOW PQA IS THREE CLASSES IN ONE? 🎭🎬🎶

Every Saturday, our Main Academy students rotate through three exciting sessions:

🎶 Musical Theatre
🎭 Comedy & Drama
🎬 Film & Television

That means they can sing, dance, act, create characters, work behind the camera, make films and develop skills for both the stage and screen, all in one morning!

No previous experience is needed. We welcome confident performers, quiet observers, creative thinkers and children who are ready to try something new.

Our new term starts on Saturday 5 September.

❄️ OUR VERY FIRST SHOW! ❄️

This November, PQA Long Eaton will reach a huge and incredibly exciting milestone as our students take to the stage for our academy’s first-ever production Disney’s Frozen Jr.! 💙✨

Since opening our doors, our academy has grown into a wonderful community filled with talented, creative and hardworking young people. We couldn’t be prouder of everything they have achieved, and we cannot wait to watch them shine on stage!

Next up in our Meet the Team series is Leah, our Poppets and Academy Assistant! 💛🖤

Leah’s PQA superpower is getting to know everyone and creating an environment where every person feels valued, included and genuinely welcome.

The show she would happily watch again is Mamma Mia! She loves its feel-good energy and how it makes her want to get up, join in and become part of the show! 🎶

Leah’s hidden talent is quietly noticing the little things and making sure everyone around her is happy...something that makes her such a special member of our team.

🎬🍿 HAPPY NATIONAL CINEMA DAY! 🍿🎬

Today, we’re celebrating the magic of cinema and the incredible people who bring stories to life, both in front of and behind the camera!

At PQA Long Eaton, our Film & Television students don’t just watch films, they learn how to create them. From developing original ideas and writing scripts to acting on camera, directing scenes, recording sound and choosing the perfect shot, every student plays an important part in the filmmaking process. 🎥✨

Film allows us to explore new worlds, experience different perspectives and feel emotions that stay with us long after the credits have finished rolling.

So, in celebration of National Cinema Day, we want to know:

🎶 Musical Theatre
Students develop their singing, dancing and performance skills while building coordination, confidence and self-expression.

🎭 Comedy & Drama
Through acting, improvisation and storytelling, students learn how to communicate, collaborate and bring characters to life.

🎬 Film & Television
Students experience life both in front of and behind the camera, exploring screen acting, filmmaking and creative storytelling.

Next up in our Meet the Team series is Kelsey, our Musical Theatre & LAMDA Teacher! 💛🖤

Kelsey’s PQA superpower is bringing light into the room and lifting up every PQA student, helping them build the confidence they need to spread their wings and fly on their own. ✨

The show she would happily watch again is High School Musical! She’s always ready to get her head in the game, bop to the top and remind us that we’re all in this together! 🎶🏀

Kelsey’s hidden talent is being able to visualise an entire scene, costume or set piece in her mind—it’s like having her very own technicolour movie playing in her head! 🎬🌈

And one thing you might never guess about Kelsey? She’s an amazing baker, especially when it comes to cookies! She even ran her own baking business in Devon a few years ago. 🍪

🎭 5 SKILLS YOUR CHILD LEARNS IN COMEDY & DRAMA 🎭

Comedy & Drama is about so much more than learning lines and performing on stage. Every session helps our students develop valuable skills they can use both inside and outside the classroom!

⏱️ 1. Comic timing
Students learn how pauses, reactions, facial expressions and delivery can turn a good joke into a brilliant one!

🤝 2. Performing as a group
Working as an ensemble teaches students to listen, cooperate, support one another and understand that every performer plays an important part.

✨ 3. Handling the unexpected
From improvisation to forgotten lines, students learn to think quickly, remain calm and confidently keep a scene moving when things don’t go exactly to plan.

💛 4. Empathy
Exploring different characters and situations encourages students to see the world from another person’s perspective, helping them develop emotional awareness and understanding.

📖 5. Script work and storytelling
Students learn how to interpret scripts, develop characters and use their voices, movement and imagination to bring stories to life.

Comedy & Drama gives young people a safe and supportive space to experiment, express themselves, make mistakes and grow in confidence, all while having plenty of fun! 🌟
