Children 1st Derby Road welcomes children from six weeks to five years in a warm, nurturing environment designed to help them grow with confidence and curiosity. Our caring team provides a calm and supportive space for learning and exploration, both indoors and out. We work closely with families to build strong relationships and offer flexible childcare options, including 15 and 30 hours funded childcare for eligible families.

Baby-led weaning gives children the opportunity to explore food independently, helping to build confidence, support fine motor development and encourage a positive relationship with food from the very start.

We know that every family's weaning journey is different. That's why we take time during the settling-in process to understand each family's preferences and chosen approach. Whether parents opt for baby-led weaning, purées or a combination of both, it's always led by parental choice, with our nursery teams there to provide support every step of the way.

Through close partnerships with families, we create positive mealtime experiences where children can safely explore a variety of tastes and textures at their own pace. As they do, they're developing independence, self-confidence and important skills that support their wider learning and development.
