On Thursday, our staff joined colleagues from across the city at the Millennium Forum for the Foyle Learning Community Conference.👩🏻‍🏫

We gained brilliant insights from guest speaker Pedro De Bruyckere, who challenged common educational myths and encouraged us to delve deeper into evidence-based learning, while Kate Jones provided fantastic, practical tools for retrieval practice and assessment.

Our team is energised and ready to bring these practical strategies straight into the classroom this coming school year to help every pupil reach their full potential. 🎓💡✨

Today we were delighted to welcome our new Year 8 pupils into the Foyle family! 🎉

This morning, pupils met their form teachers, settled into their form classes, and took their first steps on an exciting new journey with us. We are thrilled to have them join our school community and can't wait for them to experience all that school life at Foyle has to offer over the coming years.

We look forward to watching them learn, grow, make lifelong friendships, and create wonderful memories. Welcome to Foyle College, Year 8! 💙

A huge thank you to Fiona and her team for an excellent and informative University Roadshow this morning for our Year 14 pupils.

The event provided our students with a fantastic opportunity to explore their post-18 options, speak directly with university representatives and gain valuable insight into university life and the courses available.

A particular thank you to the representatives from Northumbria University, Queen Margaret University, Anglia Ruskin University, Liverpool John Moores University, Glasgow Caledonian University, Liverpool Hope University and Edge Hill University for giving their time and engaging so positively with our pupils.

A really valuable morning as our Year 14 students begin to make important decisions about their next steps. 🎓

A fantastic afternoon of staff health and wellbeing! 💙

As part of our Staff Development Day on Friday, time was dedicated to looking after ourselves, connecting with colleagues and having some fun together. The afternoon began with a delicious lunch provided by The Sandwich Company, before staff had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, including padel, golf, baking and flower arranging. 🌸🏌️‍♀️🎾🧁

It was a brilliant way to round off our first week back, providing a chance to relax, unwind and, importantly, bond with some of our new members of staff.

Many thanks to Hayley for the flower arranging, Acorn Padel Club, Hannah from Barn Door Coffee & Kitchen, Faughan Valley Golf and Foyle Golf Centre for making the activities possible!

A huge thank you to Mrs Robinson for organising such a fantastic event and for putting staff health and wellbeing at the heart of our afternoon. What a wonderful way to end the week! ❤️
