What a night! 🌟✨

Last night, our pupils celebrated in style at our Year 14 Formal at the stunning Ebrington Hotel… and what an incredible evening it was! Our students and staff truly scrubbed up well, looking absolutely fantastic! 💃🕺

A huge thank you to Mrs McIntosh and the Formal Committee for all their hard work and dedication in planning such a seamless event. We’d also like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at the Ebrington Hotel for providing a breathtaking venue and a magnificent meal. 🍽️ ✨

We're incredibly proud of our four groups of Year 11 pupils who recently completed their Bronze Expedition in Banagher. The weather may have been against them, but their teamwork, determination, and refusal to give up shone through. Well done!🥾💙

⭐️World Mental Health Day⭐️

Today, we are raising awareness of the importance of mental health and reminding our Foyle Family that it’s okay not to be okay. 💚

At our school, we believe that everyone’s mental health matters. Just as we look after our physical health, it’s important to take care of our minds, too.

Today especially, we’re encouraging our Foyle Family to:
-Be kind to themselves and to others
-Take time to rest, relax, unwind and do enjoyable things.
-Speak up when things feel tough, talk to someone you trust. Remember that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
-Check in with your friends - a simple “Are you okay?” can make a big difference.

We want to continue to create a community where everyone feels supported, valued and listened to. We also want to support the message being echoed all across the world today by the World Health Organisation, ‘You are not alone. You matter. Your mental health matters.’💚

A fantastic start to the SEPI (Shared Education for Positive Innovation) Programme for our Year 13 pupils today at the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny! 🌍🤝

Students joined peers from schools across Ireland to begin an exciting year of collaboration focused on climate change, peace-building and entrepreneurship. Through a range of team-building activities, they had the opportunity to make new friends, develop important skills and build connections that will help shape their SEPI experience.

We can't wait to see what they achieve throughout the programme!

🌿 Biology Week 2026! 🧬✨

The Biology Department is excited to celebrate Biology Week (8th–18th October) in line with the Royal Society of Biology, and we want our parents to join in on the fun!

Here is what our pupils are getting up to this week:

🎨 Year 10 BioCraft Competition
A big thank you to Ms. Atcheson and the Art Department for collaborating with us on this exciting project! Pupils will be building models that blend creativity with accurate biology concepts. Judging takes place the week beginning 12th October.

🔬 Year 8–9 Biology Challenge
We are challenging parents to get hands-on with their child’s learning! Enjoy celebrating Biology Week from home by trying out one of two fun experiments using everyday household items:
🍂 Why do leaves change colour in the autumn?
🐌 Why do slugs and snails need slime?

Pupils should upload a photo of their experiment in action to their Biology Google Classroom. This week's Science homework will feature a worksheet related to these challenges, so get busy!

📩 Parent Information & Resources:
Please keep an eye on your emails for the assembly PowerPoint, inspiration leaflets, and direct experiment links.

Let’s get celebrating! 🔬🌿🧪

A huge congratulations to our September Literacy Lift Off Winners! 🎉

These pupils were nominated by their English teachers for their excellent oral skills, demonstrating confidence, communication, and thoughtful contributions in class. Their ability to express ideas clearly and engage in discussions has truly impressed us.

👏 Well done to all our winners. Keep up the fantastic work and continue letting your voices be heard!

Yesterday, our Environmental Club headed to Culmore Beach to help tackle the impact of the recent high winds and tides on our coastline. Armed with gloves and litter pickers, our pupils worked hard to remove a variety of debris that had washed ashore.

Among the items discovered were clay pigeon fragments, discarded nets and bands, footballs, Duplo pieces, and even areas of mussel beds affected by the debris. The beach clean highlighted both the beauty of our local environment and the importance of protecting it for future generations.

A huge well done to all involved for their commitment to caring for our coastline and making a positive difference in our community. 🌍♻️
