We Need a More Sophisticated Definition of Agility

Agility is often reduced to speed.

In reality, it is perception, timing, and control under constraint.

What is fitness?

What does it mean?

By itself, out of context, it means nothing.

There is no such thing as ‘fitness’ - there is only being ‘fit FOR something’.

And humans are meant to be FIT FOR MOVEMENT.

Practical movement is what our bodies are adapted for: to be able to master any terrain, and adapt to any challenge we encounter.

To run, jump, climb, swing, vault, crawl, balance… we are built to do all of these things and on a regular basis, and across variable terrain.

Simply put, that is what YOUR body needs and wants to do. It’s what makes your body thrive, grow strong, stay resilient and last for a lifetime.

Neglect movement and watch your health decline rapidly.

In the PARKOUR FITNESS course we focus on restoring natural, practical movement skills without any of the unnecessary fluff that has arisen within the fitness industry.

Complete Movement Training.

Isolation serves little purpose. Movement is holistic, and needs to comprise ALL the fundamental locomotion patterns of human beings.

We need to jump, crawl, run, vault, brachiate, roll, climb… And in parkour we cover all of these, and in a practical sense.

London Level 1 Certification.

This June we are stoked to be hosting the Level 1 Parkour Fitness Certification at new facility near Blackwall.

No prior knowledge of parkour is required; this foundation course is open to fitness professionals, PTs, sports coaches or anyone with an interest in movement practice.

Dates: 3-4 June

The aim of this two-day course is to expose trainers to the core concepts of parkour and how those concepts can be applied in a fitness training environment and expanded upon to create truly functional movement practice and fitness. Further, it is also designed to convey the fundamental strength and mobility training methods used by parkour practitioners.

No discipline requires mastery of jumping technique, form and capability quite like parkour. This has led to the jumping methods of parkour being studied by sports scientists around the world as it becomes clear that its biomechanics and methods of impact absorption are reshaping what we believed the human body is capable of.

Humans are fantastic jumpers, due to the anatomy of our highly mobile hip complex, long lower limbs and sophisticated ankle joints. Jumping is a holistic and explosive movement engaging every part of the body, and is one of the most effective ways to increase your power, strength, coordination, agility, flexibility and spatial awareness.

Jumping is in many ways a neglected skill, and this workshop will help you rediscover its functional effectiveness and usefulness in training. You will come away feeling truly empowered knowing just what you can do with a jump!

✔️ Practice unilateral and bilateral jump methods.
✔️ Motor mapping to land with balance, accuracy and control.
