The debate keeps circling around who can structure the transaction. The data tells a different story:
🔹 Green and sustainability sukuk: 5 to 6% of the global sukuk market
🔹 Annual issuance: $11.4B in 2023 to $11.9B in 2024
🔹 Almost every credible issuance heavily oversubscribed by central banks, sovereign funds, pensions, and asset managers

Oversubscription is not evidence of scarce structuring skill. It is abundant investor appetite chasing a scarce supply of credible green assets.

In 2023, the International Sustainability Standards Board issued IFRS S1 and S2.
Most executives filed it under future problems. That was a mistake.
Markets across the region are moving to adopt these standards. Stock exchanges are updating listing requirements. Regulators are aligning their disclosure frameworks.
And here is the part nobody says out loud:

Banks across the region already know TCFD well. Many have made real progress on climate governance.
The next challenge is different.
Turning framework knowledge into full implementation. Scenario analysis, risk integration, board-level reporting. This is where institutions across the region are now focusing their efforts.
And the timing matters, because TCFD has become the foundation of the disclosure standards entering mandatory adoption across the region.
