What an incredible show today for Northway’s Got Talent! The children did a brilliant job and have all worked so hard preparing and practicing for their performance and videos.

HEATWAVE UPDATE

I wanted to provide a further update regarding the exceptionally hot weather we are continuing to experience this week.

School remains open and we will continue to do everything we can to keep pupils safe and comfortable.

However, in recognition of the ongoing extreme temperatures, we will extend the offer of an authorised absence for the remainder of this week (Thursday and Friday). If you would prefer to keep your child at home, please let the school office know by emailing [email protected] or informing your child's class teacher.

Despite the very challenging conditions, the children have been incredibly resilient. Our staff have also been working exceptionally hard to keep everyone as safe and comfortable as possible. Measures we have put in place include:
Limiting time spent outdoors, particularly during the hottest parts of the day
Providing frequent opportunities for children to drink water
Offering lots of water play and cooling activities
Purchasing additional fans for classrooms and learning spaces

Several parents have asked whether the transport buses are air conditioned. I contacted the transport providers, who confirmed that many of their vehicles do have air conditioning. However, due to the frequent opening and closing of doors throughout the route, it can be difficult to maintain a consistently cool temperature on the buses.
To help support pupil safety and comfort, the transport providers have confirmed that children may have a water bottle with them on the bus and can drink from it when the vehicle is stationary. Please ensure that any water bottle sent in is clearly labelled with your child's name.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. The wellbeing of our pupils remains our highest priority, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely.
