Rainbow rice is one of our favourite sensory resources! Simply mix white rice with coloured paint and wait for it to dry. When we want the beautiful rainbow colours we use separate bowls or sandwich bags to mix the individual colours. The rice can be used again and again! We loved adding pots, spoons, bowls and cups 🌈

Choosing the right nursery can feel like a big decision.

When you look around, don’t just listen — look, observe and picture your child there. How would they feel? Would they be happy, engaged and cared for?

We’ve put together a simple guide to help you know what to look out for when visiting nurseries. 🧸✨

If you would like to look at these things at either of our nurseries, please contact us to book a tour on 0208 301 4369 or email [email protected]

*Staff appreciation*

We see and recognise the hard work our staff do every day. The love and care they give the children, the effort they put into making each child's day fun and exciting and the time they take to get to know every child individually.

Over the summer our parents also showed their appreciation with so many thoughtful gifts, cards and handmade crafts for the staff, which are so appreciated and special.

Some of our children took a trip to a local charity shop to donate some clothes this week. This opened discussions about the importance of kindness, sharing, and helping others.

Each of our rooms display family photos, the children find a lot of comfort in seeing their loved ones in the room and love telling us all about their families.
It also promotes lots of positive conversation about how our families look different and what makes each family special.

New Foundations Day Nursery is a converted Victorian house that has been caring for children and families for almost 23 years. We offer a true home-from-home environment, with a spacious garden and a warm, welcoming, homely feel.

We love being a small setting because it allows us to build strong, meaningful relationships with our children and their families. We get to know each child as an individual—their personality, interests, needs and unique personalities—so that every child feels truly known, valued and special, just as they are

How Do You Feel?
Little children have big emotions, and sometimes, simply being able to name a feeling can make it easier to understand and manage.

In each of our Toddler and Preschool rooms, we have an Emotion Wall where children can explore a range of feelings in a safe, calm and supportive space. They can look at different emotions, use puppets to act out how they might be feeling, enjoy stories about emotions, and talk about their own experiences.

By helping children recognise and name their feelings, we are giving them the confidence and tools to express themselves, understand others and begin to manage their big emotions.

What did you want to be when you were little?
Our goal is to give the children a wide range of experiences and knowledge to open their worlds to endless possibilities!

We post a lot about how important books are for young children and how we use books throughout our curriculum. But we also love nursery rhymes and singing is an every day activity in all of our rooms 🎶 Singing is a huge tool for communication and language, helping to develop language, listening and understanding.
