Universities ‘failing to make case to society’ - Research Professional News 24/06/2026

Universities create enormous value through education, research and innovation. But helping young people transition from education into meaningful careers requires more than qualifications alone. Mentoring can help bridge that gap!

We’re young, keen — and endlessly rejected 22/06/2026

Job hunting can feel like a full-time job. Hours spent tailoring applications, completing assessments and preparing for interviews often lead to rejection or silence. This can have a devastating effect on self esteem. Mentoring can't remove the obstacles, but it can provide perspective, encouragement and resilience when motivation starts to fade.

We’re young, keen — and endlessly rejected Alan Milburn’s report on Gen Z and work showed the misery of the job hunt. Times Radio’s Anna Mikhailova was in parliament to hear their stories

What an incredible time we had at the ORT UK Business Leaders Breakfast! The event was chaired by our CEO, Ronel Lehmann, with special guests Euan Blair, Sir Ronnie Cohen and Daniel Finkelstein. It was a fascinating discussion that inspired us all to consider how we can do even more to support young people through mentoring.

We're so happy for the deserved recognition given to one of our mentors, Merrill Powell, who is now Merrill Powell, MBE!

"Congratulations to Merrill Powell MBE on being recognised in HM The King’s Birthday honours list. Whenever our student candidates need interview preparation, she is always there 24/7 to help them. I too find myself seeking Merrill’s opinion with my own speaking engagements. She always tells me know how I can do better."

We have a little challenge for all the job-seekers out there. Take a few moments this weekend to tune out and listen to a song that you enjoy. If you're able to, have a little foot tap or dance along with it. Brief moments such as these are essential for wellbeing during intense times, and so it's important to stay in touch with this side of ourselves.

We've been having a wonderful time at London Tech Week, where our very own Elizabeth Diaferia has been representing Finito! The impact of technology (good and bad) on those seeking a meaningful career is significant, so it's been fascinating to speak with those developing future platforms. Come say hi if you see us!

From Helpless to Hopeful During the Job Search 05/06/2026

The impact of a job search on people's nervous systems should not be underestimated. Whether it's feelings of inadequacy, a perceived loss of control or dealing with rejection, it's a trigger-laden recipe.

This is one reason why mentoring can be so valuable. A good mentor provides not only practical guidance but also perspective, encouragement and a sense of agency. Sometimes the most important thing is helping someone recognise that setbacks are part of the process, not a verdict on their potential.
