Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) is proud to announce its selection as a finalist in three categories at the 2026 MAT Excellence Awards. These awards represent a national benchmark for excellence, celebrating the transformative impact and collective achievements of the UK’s leading multi-academy trusts.

The Trust has been shortlisted for:

▪️CEO of the Year

These nominations recognise the Trust’s sustained commitment to delivering educational excellence and the collective strength of its leadership.

While the individual nomination for CEO of the Year acknowledges exceptional individual leadership, the Trust would like to emphasise that this achievement also reflects the collective dedication of staff, governors and the wider executive team, whose collaborative approach continues to drive positive outcomes for all students.

Winners will be announced at the MAT Excellence Awards ceremony on Thursday 18th June 2026.

Splendid Theatre Workshop with Year 10 and Year 12 Drama Students

On 19th January, our students in Year 10/12 Drama took part in an amazing workshop for the whole day. The workshop was led by Splendid director and founder, Kirsty, and the students were very lucky to have her with us, as she has a wealth of experience. Students explored the work of practitioners Kneehigh and Brecht, both of whom are highlighted as key practitioners in the AQA specifications. Kirsty was very impressed with our students, saying they were kind and polite.

Dance World Cup News

The academy is very proud and excited to share that Scarlett in Year 11 and her team of 8 have qualified to represent England in the senior group section of the Dance World Cup to be held in Portugal in July.

We wish them all the best of luck and look forward to hearing about their wonderful experience representing England in this prestigious competition. Well done!

The start of 2023 has seen the junior girls triumphant in the Leigh Academies Trust 5 A Side football tournament held at The Leigh Academy Dartford. Our squad of 8 remained unbeaten in their divisional games, beating Wilmington Academy, Leigh UTC, Stood Academy, Longfield Academy and Mascalls Academy. Scoring a total of 27 goals and only conceding 1 goal. The final saw a much closer match against Hundred of Hoo with SCWA winning 4-3. Humble in their win and showing excellent sportsmanship, the squad congratulated Hundred on Ho before the SCWA team captain went up to collect the cup on behalf of the squad.

Well done to Edie, Ava-Grace, Milly, Amelia, Jess, Rosie, Sophie, Darcie and all the LAT students that participated in the tournament.

If your child did not receive the nasal flu vaccination at your school session and you would now like them to receive this, or you would like the alternative injectable flu vaccine which does not contain porcine gelatine, clinics will be available on the following dates.
