If I could become a Chevening Scholar at the University of Nottingham once again, here is what I would do differently:

📍I would slow down more. I rushed through moments that deserved to be fully felt: lectures, seminars, campus walks, and meaningful conversations. I would be more present and less anxious about what comes next.

📍I would ask for help earlier. Nottingham offered strong academic and pastoral support, yet I often carried too much alone. I would lean more intentionally into supervisors, student services, and peer support.

📍I would document everything. Not just achievements, but lessons, setbacks, and personal growth. These moments matter long after graduation.

📍I would network with deeper intention. Not collecting contacts, but building relationships rooted in shared values and long term impact.

I would explore the UK more. I focused almost entirely on studying and deadlines. Yes, I graduated with distinction, but I would honestly trade some of that perfection for more travel, culture, and lived UK experiences. Learning does not only happen in classrooms.

📍I would rest without apology. Excellence did not require burnout. Balance should have been non negotiable.

🔐Still, I would choose being a Chevening Scholar at the University of Nottingham again and again. Not because it was easy, but because it transformed me. And growth is never wasted.

A teacher should understand the white cane as a tool for independence, safety, and dignity, not as a symbol of limitation. What you know shapes how the student experiences your classroom. ⭐️
