Proud to have presented the first-ever Ottoman Jewish Composers Concert in the UK at JW3 London.

For me, this was more than a performance. It was a meaningful cultural project dedicated to bringing an important but rarely heard part of Ottoman and Turkish classical music heritage to the London stage.

As an oud artist, composer and educator, I feel honoured to share the works of Ottoman Jewish composers with new audiences and to highlight their remarkable contribution to the musical richness of Istanbul.

Many thanks to our wonderful audience, to JW3 London, and to my brilliant colleagues Serdar on Kanun, Jacob on Ney and Muammer on Percussion. Special thanks also to Tamer for his excellent narration and presentation.

This project marks an important beginning, and I look forward to developing it further through future concerts, collaborations and cultural initiatives.

Last week we hosted a series of Turkish Makam Music workshops in London and Cambridge, organised by BY Music Education and led by oud master and arranger Ufuk Kaan İçli.

The sessions focused on harmonic structures in Turkish music, practical applications of harmony within the makam system, and exploring natural harmonics through singing and instrumental practice. Participants had the opportunity to both learn the theory and experience these concepts together through listening, playing, and discussion.

Thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to these inspiring sessions.
