This fabulous group of 14-16 year olds stepped up to help us re-upholster two sets of 1970s dining chairs! They did a fantastic job thanks everyone 👏👏👏. We hope to see some of them on our 2 Year T-Level Upholstery course starting this September.

For upholsterers knowing how to use an industrial sewing machine is essential, we also think it’s an empowering life skill, so we were delighted to welcome 12 year 11s to learn to sew! Not only did they show some great machine skills but they all cut and sewed a leather phone case, not an easy task!

Experiences like this help young people explore specialist pathways, build confidence through making and understand what post-16 learning could look like

We have some great tools to enable this, including our digital embroidery machine!

As well as teaching the AMUSF upholstery diploma course, ELFI is the first college in the UK to offer the Upholstery T Level for 16-18 year olds.
🔨 These images are from a day workshop for year 11s, they were a fantastic class and all enjoyed using the tools and learning the basics!
🪑 This new qualification is a wonderful opportunity to welcome the next generation to our industry!!
