I’ve written a short piece which I hope will be helpful to parents. The link is in my bio.

‘Tractable’ was one of the fabulous words that popped up in a breakfast club this morning. Definition: Docile, easy to control.
Use when speaking to your child and elevating their vocabulary: ‘Darling, I don’t expect you to be tractable, just respectful.’ Let me know how you get on with that one 😉

At the launch of Zinc’s Mission for Children and Young People’s Mental Health last night, it was an extraordinary experience to be surrounded by people who care as passionately as we do about our young people’s mental well-being. We spoke to some of the 68 diverse and uniquely skilled founders who are going to be solving the crisis of our young people’s mental health from all sides.
Nadhim Zahawi opened with his own lived struggle of coming to the UK from Baghdad as a 12 year old boy with no English. Pictured, Paul Lindley, of Ella’s Kitchen, with founder, Shahroo Izadi, answering on the critical need to put an emotionally healthy childhood at the heart of policy and the way that decency, which is innately present in young people, is at the centre of his business success. Moving stuff. Hopeful future.

Last night, together with LEVEL, we piloted our book club for adults! Matthew read to us from Mrs Caliban, and we talked about marriage, domesticity, and grief through the genre of magical realism and the sitcom.
An enormous treat to experience the book club as an attendee. We soothed, stimulated, and connected. O, and as Matthew was leading it, we learned a stunning new word: horripilation, the er****on of hairs on skin due to cold, fear or excitement. Naturally.
We’ll be kicking off in January. Send me a note through our website if you’d like a weekly book club where we read the book to you and you relax, learn, and express yourself.

A phenomenal narrative poem for or any time. The rhythm of the game; the rhythm of the heart. Powerfully moving and hopeful for young adults.

Georgia and Julia heading back to our first all-girls school today. What a group of curious and analytical minds they are!
I’m reminded of what a privilege and responsibility it is to be the first to introduce The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe to a young person. I so distinctly remember entering Narnia for the first time and taking my own children with me.
