The Retreat

Once a year, our hypnosis community gathers in person.

Not to sit in rows.
Not to consume lectures.
But to reconnect — with the work, with ourselves, and with each other.

This year’s JHA Annual Retreat is fully residential, with accommodation and food included in the ticket, and we’ve opened a limited number of places to hypnosis professionals beyond JHA.

If spending a weekend learning, reflecting, and sharing meals with a wonderful group of peers sounds valuable, you’re very welcome to join us.

Revisiting The February Man
Twenty years ago, I read The February Man—the only verbatim case study of Milton Erickson at work.
Back then, I was in awe.

Reading it again now… something else hit me.
I was surprised by some of the assumptions made by those involved—and how I completely overlooked the peculiar social dynamics of the room.

In this new blog, I look at the case with fresh eyes—through the lens of today’s cognitive and social models of hypnosis.
Not to diminish its brilliance, but to celebrate its depth and consider what it really shows us about change, suggestion, memory, and role.
