Marion's Munchkins - Nurturing your little learners the Hygge way. Ofsted Good April 2025. Hello, and welcome to Marion's Munchkins - Nurturing your little learners the Hygge way. I am passionate about nurturing all of my little learners by providing the best childcare that I can, and by giving all of my families my utmost support from day one. I offer Funded places. Having registered with Ofsted

in 2008, I was graded GOOD at my last inspection (2025). Prior to this, I was graded OUTSTANDING (2019). I follow Hygge at Marion's Munchkins, and am working towards Qualified Teacher Status. I am educated to Degree level, and pride myself in being able to transfer my love of learning, and of the English language, to the children in my care, whatever their first language might be, so that they all enjoy learning in a fun and creative way during their time with me. My home is in a character cottage in North Finchley, within easy walking distance of Woodside Park and West Finchley Underground stations, and close to Tally Ho Corner's bus routes and excellent local amenities. It has a spacious indoor play area (the whole ground floor is dedicated to childminding); and an expansive, secure, south-facing garden, with high quality resources for every ability, as well as an abundance of fruit trees, strawberries, beautiful flowers and tasty herbs that we can include in our play. Each well-equipped space and high quality resource has been designed to stimulate and challenge your child as they progress along their own personal learning journey on their way to school readiness, and my aim is to help your child achieve their full potential (and have great fun learning) along the way. As a Hygge setting, we spend a lot of our learning time outdoors, and make good use of the garden, and the beautiful, open spaces and parks that this part of London has to offer. I teach the Early Years Foundations Stage in my curriculum, alongside traditional British values including sharing, table manners and being gentle and kind to each other. The children learn about our British birds and wildlife, the seasons, our local, diverse community, our similarities and differences, and we have lots of fun reading stories, drawing, engaging in role play, dressing up, getting messy, digging and planting, singing and actions, and so much more. I treat every child as unique, and I actively encourage the children in my care to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, exercise, make their own choices, learn for themselves, and interact with other children of different ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds. I also help them to develop the necessary life skills to become independent. I love every minute of being a Childminder, but never forget the need to keep children safe, stimulated and nurtured at all times. I am in the catchment area for Moss Hall Nursery, Infant and Junior schools, serve nutritious, healthy meals and snacks, and am open all year round, Monday to Friday, from 8am-6pm. Spaces are limited, so for enquiries regarding my availability, or to arrange a visit, please email me with details of your requirements, and I will let you know if I can help. My Policies and a link to my secure, parent information website are available separately. ABOUT ME:
Prior to becoming an Ofsted-registered Childminder, I worked for many years in the City and the West End of London, so I have first-hand experience of being a working parent and the pressures that this can bring. REFERENCE: July 2025 (H&V - parents of a 2 year old)
"Marion is an absolute gem of a childminder and has already made a wonderful impact on our baby’s life. Her warmth, care, and expertise shine through every day, and it’s clear how much she loves and genuinely connects with the children in her care. In just a few weeks, we’ve noticed incredible progress in our baby’s learning and development. It’s such a joy to see her come home so happy and thriving after a day spent with Marion and the other little ones in her nurturing and engaging environment. The opportunity to learn and play with other babies under Marion’s guidance is truly special. We feel incredibly lucky to have found Marion and for our baby to be part of her lovely munchkins group. She’s a true hidden gem, and we couldn’t recommend her highly enough!"

I had a lovely message from an ex-parent over the weekend, catching me up on how their little one (school age now) is doing. I adore messages like these.

It was also brilliant to learn that my ex-Munchkin and his grown-ups still dance along to some of our favourite songs and rewatch videos of their best Munchkin dance moves.

To all of my fellow childminders, be proud of what you do every day: making memories and spreading joy.

So much learning: New Munchkins. New walking (helped by positioning Mr Hedgehog at the end of the hallway to encourage effort with endless hedgehog cuddles as a reward). Lots of lovely new friendships being made.
One happy childminder.

“I came across this in my Canva today…

As the push for earlier schooling continues, it’s a gentle reminder of just how precious these early years are.

A time where learning is led by play, guided by individual needs, and filled with freedom.

Because once school begins… it’s a long journey ahead.”
