Proudly nurturing your little learners, and making these early childhood years magical.
“I came across this in my Canva today…
As the push for earlier schooling continues, it’s a gentle reminder of just how precious these early years are.
A time where learning is led by play, guided by individual needs, and filled with freedom.
Because once school begins… it’s a long journey ahead.”

“That’s not my window… it’s …”
Home-made fun for Earth Day. “Reduce, re-use, recycle.”
Happy Earth Day! I just re-read your wonderful “Hungry Caterpillar” to a new baby in my care, and got to experience the magic all over again. X

Early maths… as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4…
Learning through: comparing, noticing, ordering, playing with what we know, having a go.
As well as helping sort the ivy leaves picked from our garden wall from large to small, we re-read one of our old favourites, “Jack and the Beanstalk” for inspiration. 🫘

Exploring with a new Munchkin. We took one of our favourite books with us, and read poems about ‘Spring’, while sitting in the shade of a very tall tree. We then sat on a lovely bench near the pond to admire the tinkling fountain, with ladybirds, bluebells and birds for company. (We also chatted to a Post Lady and a very friendly driver on his big red bus.) A happy day.

Well, December with the Munchkins was wonderful, as ever. So much learning but, mainly, I loved seeing how supportive and affectionate they were to each other, with every moment sparking joy.
We held each other’s hands as we explored the setting, chose where we wanted to read our wonderful books, sang nursery rhymes to each other (as well as to a toy Robin), decorated our trees with bells (indoors and outdoors); made our own Christmas music with percussion instruments, more bells, and a wind-up music box (a great use of our fine motor skills); used festive stamps as well as drawing round our hands to make cards for our families, and ate the last, delicious apples from our tree. (We even left one as a gift for our resident squirrel so he didn’t feel left out.)
As ever, I let the children’s interests lead their play. We explored space, rockets; named planets, went out to explore the dark skies over-head, enjoyed seeing the difference using our collection of torches and coloured lights made to our play in the garden once darkness fell, then went out together with our lights to marvel at the beautiful displays in our neighbourhood. We even took in some local art.
Wishing all of my families (past, present and future) a very happy holiday time with your loved ones. Thank you for my lovely gifts but, more than that, thank you for choosing me to look after your wonderful children. Feeling blessed. 🌟🎄🌟 See you in 2026. # # #
