I received extra tuition from Delia’s incredible mother back in 1985/1986. To me she was Mrs Lawton-Browne. I now know her first name was Renata (Renee).

Renee took on the massive challenge of setting up the clinic to support children with Dyslexia and I'm so happy to see that it's still there supporting children and families. I’m pretty sure I would have been a reluctant learner but Renee gave me the confidence to believe in myself with her patient and fun approach to learning.

I reached out to Delia to ask about the best way to go about a Dyslexia assessment for my daughter. Delia was very approachable and extremely helpful, providing me with everything I needed to help my daughter and I would definitely recommend Delia to anyone looking for help and more information about Dyslexia.

I'm so grateful to Renee and so glad that Delia is still providing much needed support and promoting greater understanding of what it's like to be Dyslexic. I would definitely recommend the Hampstead Dyslexia Clinic to anyone who is looking to find out more about getting help for their child.

Hello,

My son, Tom, was referred to you in 1993 by his school teacher.

We came to see you and we felt so welcome.
Mrs Lawton-Browne organised for Tom, my husband and I to take an exam.
My husband and I were then told to go and sitin our car, whilst Matthew had further tests.
After 2 hours we were called back in for the results.

Tom was told he had a high IQ. That he was not stupid. He burst into tears!
Then the diagnosis of Dyscalculia was given-Number Dyslexia.

I was given the same diagnosis. I had always struggled with numbers, but was always 3 years ahead in reading.

Stanley was 'normal'.

It was decided that weekly sessions would help Tom to which we agreed (I too benefited), plus memory cards.

Tom is now Assistant Head at our local Secondary School.

I trained as a Nurse, and achieved in my chosen career.

Dyscalulia did not hold us back. We just had to work harder.

Without Mrs Lawton-Browne Tom would have struggled as I did throughout his education.
We are both do very grateful.

"So lucky a friend told us about their family's experience with Hampstead Dyslexia Clinic. Our child joined Delia, Debbie and their helpers for a week of the "Art of Spelling" following this recommendation, before this he had never stayed on his own at a club or holiday camp more than an hour without vowing never to return! The team are so warm and welcoming, children feel immediately at ease, as if they are in a friend or family members home. The positivity, encouragement and fun throughout the course meant our child went in and came out happily each day. It is so wonderful to find a place for Dyslexic children to feel comfortable and supported, a welcome break from the pressures in the traditional classroom. Thank you so much for providing a space for our children and we look forward to seeing you again in the summer holidays!"

For Dyslexia Awareness Week 2025, we are spreading awareness on the famous artists throughout history who are widely acknowledged as Dyslexic.

Leonardo DaVinci has been described by University Professors as having 'terrible' spelling and word composition, not to mention his poor performance in school and struggles to learn Latin, despite efforts to teach himself, are noted in his biography.
In spite of this, he is considered one of the brightest minds in history, and has shaped centuaries of both mathmatical and artistic learning.

Students will learn more about Da Vinci, other Dyslexic artists and creative ways to remember high-frequency words, homophones on the 'Art of Spelling' course over October half-term here at the Hampstead Dyslexia Clinic. 27th - 31st October 9:45am - 11:15am Monday - Friday.
