Edition 18 of the IFoA’s 'think' series asks the question: How resilient are the systems that underpin modern life?

‘Hidden corridors: risk, dependency and fragility in the systems that underpin modern life’ explores how disruption can spread across deeply interconnected systems such as food, water, energy, communications and finance.

Authored by Cat Drummond FIA C.Act, Daniel Sacks, and Charl Cronje FIA C.Act of LCP, the paper examines the physical and institutional corridors that support economic activity and social stability, and considers how fragility in these systems can affect outcomes, including inflation and economic growth.
