À LITTLE BIT OF AUTUMN BAKING FOR OUR MINI CHEFS!

There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls filling the kitchen and this October half-term, our youngest chefs are getting the chance to make their very own!

Join us for a fun and hands-on Mini Chefs Cooking Class, specially designed for children aged 3–5 years old. Our little bakers will get stuck into the whole process: mixing, kneading, rolling, shaping and baking their cinnamon rolls from scratch.

It’s a lovely introduction to baking, where children can get creative, learn new skills and, most importantly, have fun in the kitchen. And yes… there will be plenty of delicious cinnamon rolls to enjoy at the end!

Our Mini Chefs classes are all about encouraging little ones to become confident around food and cooking while having a brilliant time along the way.

So if you have a little baker at home who loves getting their hands messy, this one is definitely for them!

Spaces are limited, so don’t leave it too late to book. We can’t wait to welcome our Mini Chefs back into the kitchen!

A little taste of the South of France is coming to En Cuisine next week!

On 25th August, our young chefs will be cooking a colourful Provençal feast together: ratatouille, homemade tapenade and Niçoise salad.

It’s a lovely class for children who enjoy cooking (and eating!) and a great way to discover new flavours while practising plenty of useful kitchen skills.

Fresh vegetables, olive oil, herbs, lots of chopping and hopefully a little sunshine… basically Provence on a plate!

The art of bao bun!

There’s something so special about learning by doing and today, our young chefs got a hands-on lesson from Chef in the art of closing bao buns.

With patience and a little guidance, the children learned how to carefully fold, pinch, and seal each bao, discovering that the finishing touch is just as important as what’s inside!

Some folds were perfect, some were wonderfully unique, and there were plenty of smiles along the way. But that’s the beauty of cooking with children. It’s not about perfection, it’s about curiosity, creativity, confidence, and having fun together.

Watching their faces light up as they created their very own bao buns was the best part.

Would you let your little chef teach you how to close a bao?

Behind the scenes!

The glamorous side of running a cooking school… checking ALL the scales before we open.

Because there is always one that has mysteriously stopped working.

Low battery? Maybe.
Broken? Possibly.
Pressed approximately 847 times by very enthusiastic little chefs? Absolutely.

If there’s a button, the kids WILL press it. Again. And again. And again.

So before the aprons go on and the cooking begins, it’s fresh batteries, working scales and a quick equipment check for me.

Just another little behind-the-scenes moment at En Cuisine that nobody sees… but definitely keeps the kitchen running!

Not every cooking lesson starts with a recipe… sometimes it starts with learning to trust your senses.

Today our young chefs explored one of the most important skills in cooking: understanding ingredients before they reach the pan.

They learned how to season beef correctly, why salt matters, how to observe the grain of the meat, and how different cuts behave during cooking. Asking questions, making observations and getting hands-on are all part of becoming confident in the kitchen.

Cooking isn’t just about following a recipe—it’s about understanding why we do things.

Watching their curiosity grow is one of the best parts of what we do every day.

A morning of flour, fun and fresh bread!

Feeling the dough transform beneath your hands, learning how yeast works, shaping your own loaf and, of course, enjoying the smell of freshly baked bread filling the kitchen, this is what is all about!

On 26th August, our Mini Chefs (ages 3–5) will become little bakers for the morning as they discover the art of bread making through hands-on fun and plenty of messy moments!

Together we’ll learn:
How to mix and knead dough
Why bread rises
How to shape different types of bread
The joy of baking something completely from scratch

Every child will leave with new skills, wonderful memories and their delicious homemade bread to enjoy at home.

Spaces are limited, so don’t wait too long to book!

Some moments in the kitchen are quieter than others… and this was one of them.

Everyone was completely focused on filling their madeleine trays with piping bags. There were a few wobbles, a lot of concentration, and plenty of proud smiles when they realised they could do it by themselves.

It’s easy to forget that baking isn’t just about the finished cake. It’s about learning patience, practising new techniques and gaining confidence with every recipe.

And yes… the smell of warm madeleines coming out of the oven made all that careful piping worth it. 🤍
