The London School of Mathematics and Programming

The London School of Mathematics and Programming LondonSMP is a school where we teach children to understand and love maths and programming, be inventive and open-minded, always think out of the box

The London School of Mathematics and Programming is a unique institution that helps children to develop their intellectual and cognitive skills. We offer independent courses in Mathematics, Programming, Robotics and Early Intellectual Development while also supporting school studies and helping children prepare for exams. Our teaching approach is highly systematic. We make sure each subject is thoroughly learned and understood so our pupils solve problems through logic rather than memorizing theory. Our aim is to help children understand and love mathematics and coding, be inventive, open-minded and strive to think outside the box. To achieve this we provide an engaging and enriching environment in which children can develop their abilities far beyond the ordinary.

What an amazing summer it has been at The London School of Mathematics & Programming!☀️

Over the past five weeks, we welcomed curious young minds across our South Kensington and Hampstead schools for an inspiring programme of STEM camps filled with mathematics, programming, robotics, electronics, chess and hands-on engineering projects.

Each week brought a new adventure: exploring geometry in architecture, Olympiad mathematics, university level robotics, electronic projects and discovering how logic helps us understand the world. Every camper left with new knowledge, greater confidence and exciting projects they had built themselves.

A huge thank you to our wonderful students for their enthusiasm, to our dedicated teachers for making every lesson engaging and inspiring and to all the parents for trusting us with your children's summer learning journey.

As our summer camps come to an end, we are excited to begin a new academic year with our Autumn Term starting face to face and online on 19/20 September. We look forward to welcoming both new and returning students to our classes, where the journey of discovery, creativity and problem-solving continues!

📸 Here are some highlights from an unforgettable five weeks of discovery, creativity and innovation.

♟️ Chess Tournaments at LondonSMP on Sunday 31 May 2026♟️

As part of our Open Day in South Kensington on 31 May, young chess enthusiasts came together for friendly and exciting Chess Tournaments filled with concentration and great sportsmanship.

Over 40 children in Years 1 to 6 took part in our Open Chess Tournament for competent players. We also ran ‘My First Chess Tournament’ for our pupils in Reception to Year 2 to provide them with the experience of playing competitively.

Participants demonstrated impressive tactical thinking and determination at the board, putting into practice the moves and strategies they have been learning this term and during holiday camps. From carefully planned openings to thrilling endgames, every match was an opportunity to learn, challenge themselves and enjoy the game.

We were delighted to see players of different ages and experience levels engaging with one another, making new friends and sharing their passion for chess.
Huge congratulations to all the children who took part and a really special thank you to all our chess team and volunteers for organising such an enjoyable event.

📸 Take a look at some highlights from the tournament!

There's still time to join us for our OPEN DAY at our school in South Kensington this weekend. If you haven't yet booked your place, we'd love to welcome you and your child to discover how we can support their STEM learning through our weekly classes, holiday camps, or both:

🗓️When: Sunday, 31 May
📍Where: Queen's Gate House at 65 Queens Gate, South Kensington, SW7 5JS

This event is designed for parents and children who are new to LondonSMP or who are interested in taking up additional subjects such as Maths, Programming, Robotics and Chess.
It’s a drop in day where you can learn about what we do and how we do it, our ethos, subjects taught, pupils’ achievements, academic outcomes and how we can help your child.
Your child can also join fun activities and workshops and meet our teachers. Please find the timetable on our website:

We are proud to announce that LondonSMP is now registered with Ofsted. As an extracurricular school, our registration is voluntary rather than obligatory. However, as we already comply with Ofsted’s requirements, we have made this decision as part of our continuing commitment to the highest standards in education, including safeguarding.

We are also pleased to share that we are currently undergoing registration with tax-free childcare voucher schemes. Once this process is complete, we will be able to accept voucher payments. We will let you know as soon as this becomes available.

We are delighted to share our Easter holiday STEM Camp news with you - all eight of our camps across Belgravia and Hampstead were a great success this April!

Over two exciting weeks, students from age groups ranging from Reception to Year 11 explored a wide range of challenging and engaging topics, each in different camps designed for these different age ranges.

Our Junior STEM Camps introduced younger learners to the concept and logic of spatial reasoning, geometric transformations as well as coding, and electronics. This even included them constructing their own ‘Electronic Easter Egg’ as a project to take home. The following week, pupils tackled creative mathematical problems such as the Königsberg Bridge problem and Magic Squares. They even built their own ‘Talking Rabbit’ during hands-on electronics sessions.

At the same time, our Senior STEM Camps focused on advanced problem solving in maths and programming. Students worked on Olympiad-style challenges, developing logical reasoning, structured thinking, and clear written solutions. They also explored Graph Theory and Network Science. In Robotics and Electronics pupils took on the challenge of not only learning how to programme their own Space Game but constructing their own dual joystick game controller as well.

Camp wide, pupils benefited from small group teaching, personalised support and a rich combination of maths, programming, electronics, robotics and chess. It was inspiring to see their confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills grow day by day each week long camp.

We are incredibly proud of all our students and grateful to our dedicated team for delivering such an engaging and high-quality learning experience.

We look forward to welcoming you to our next camps from 26 to 29 May and from 6 July onwards!
