What can you expect at a TinyTalk Class?

TinyTalk Walthamstow & Leytonstone is currently on Summer break. Classes will start again on 8 September 2026.

If you're considering classes, you might want to know what makes TinyTalk different from other baby signing classes and what you can expect at a TinyTalk class. If so, read on!

- Each class has a theme that is useful to life with a baby - from mealtimes to bedtime, to going to the park, and learning the animals - we have you covered!
- Every three weeks is a recap of the previous two, so if you miss a class or have forgotten anything you learned, it's a chance to catch up.
- We sing traditional songs and nursery rhymes that you will be singing at other baby groups.
- Every week we have a sensory activity or signed book, so you can see how to incorporate signing into activities with your baby.
- The one hour session includes 30 minutes of taught class and 30 minutes of social time with tea and biscuit for the adults and toys for the babies.
- At TinyTalk, all 150 signs we teach you over the course of a term are BSL signs. Your teacher is qualified level 3 BSL so can answer any questions you have about learning BSL.

I love this story! Signing gives your baby a voice and can reduce their stress and frustration. People often tell me they want their baby to sign "milk" and "food". I reply that your baby can learn so much more than that! The more signs your baby knows, the happier they will be. This baby was able to tell her mum exactly where in Ikea she wanted to go. If she didn't know the sign for "monkey", she may have just cried. The shopping trip could have ended in stress and tears. Baby signing can make such a difference to your every day life with your baby.

How many baby classes benefit you months after leaving? Baby signing can be a slow process and we don't always see the results in class, especially as many of my attendees leave to return to work before their baby has reached that moment where it clicks in their brains. However, if you come to my classes when you can, you can continue the teaching after you leave, and get amazing results, just like Hannah. The sooner you start and the longer you come, the more benefits you will get. Hannah attended two terms with her baby, so the learning was really embedded.

Mat leave money running out? I've been there! I couldn't afford baby classes when I had my babies, so I missed out on the experience. Making friends was so much more difficult for me.

If you want to come to baby signing classes but can't afford the whole term or the full class fee, please do reach out.
