Thanks to our Head of Boarding, Mrs Gidman, one of our international students had the chance to do some work experience with Warren Davies dental practice. Ilia has really enjoyed the experience and we are grateful that Warren Davies gave him such excellent support and advice.
Ilia has written an account of his work experience below.
“My name is Ilia Mohammadinezhad.
I am an international student and I am doing my GCSE Courses. I came to St-Mikes in September of last year.
This is my report about the work experience in dentistry,
Everything that I learnt, during some sessions that I have done in Dr. Warren Davies’s dentistry (specialized and surgeon), includes the things below:
1-How the X-rays machine works.
2-Why sometime orthodontics needs to be done or is necessary for some people, and how it gets fixed up. Also, what kind of material gets used for it?
3-How a dentist can fill up tooth; kill the nerves and what the manner is for that diagnosis.
4- One of the most important things I learned is how a dentist should behave with his patients. It takes a long time to gain this experience.
5-I picked up some attitude methods from Dr. Davies and his staff.
6-I have learned how to use some of dentistry’s key equipment.
7-I got involved with different kinds of people there and I was able to communicate with them because it was a very social area.
8-Overall, I became more experienced in the operations of dentistry, and I was also able to increase my knowledge in medical science and communication. Furthermore, I improved my personal social behavior methods.
I increased my interest about medical science further.”
