The University of Westminster is a diverse and dynamic international education institution situated in Harrow and at three campuses in the heart of London, one of the world’s great cities. Westminster offers a vibrant learning environment where innovative, creative and dedicated students can gain the skills and experience they need to succeed in professional life. Since its launch in 1838 as Brita

in’s first polytechnic institution, it has led the way in many areas of education and research, and continues to do so today. The University attracts more than 20,000 students from 150 different nations, making it one of the most popular UK universities for international students. It also runs the country’s largest scholarship scheme. A wide range of Westminster’s courses have received excellent QAA ratings, and the University’s research leads the way in many areas including art and design, electronic engineering, law, and media and communication. It has also been recognised by the HEFCE as a Centre for Excellence in professional learning from the workplace. The University continues to invest in improving the learning environment for students, while also embarking on an ambitious refurbishment plan of its Regent Street headquarters. This building houses the UK’s earliest public cinema, the venue for the Lumiere brothers first public moving picture show in the country in 1896. Looking forward, the University aims to embed internationalisation, employability and green-thinking into all areas of its work, and to build a cutting-edge, innovative and creative research culture which is known for making a difference.

We were delighted to welcome Year 10 pupils to our Harrow Campus for the first ever Westminster Creatives Summer School, a non-residential programme supporting our commitment to widening access to higher education ✨

Over three days, students got a real taste of university life, from Lego-building library challenges to workshops in illustration, stop motion animation, clay sculpting, animated GIFs and fashion collage, led by our brilliant lecturers and visiting artists ✏️

A big well done to our UK Student Recruitment and Outreach team for delivering such a impactful project 👏

Congratulations to recent graduate Danling Su, whose artwork has been unveiled in Harrow after winning a public art competition run by Sovereign Network Group 👏

Her design now transforms a once-disused concrete shed at the new Northwick Parkside development, opposite Northwick Park Hospital.

Inspired by nature, growth and the borough of Brent, the mural uses flowers to celebrate the connection between healthcare, education and home life, with an apple motif nodding to the local area's shape on the map 🍎

Danling's design was chosen by public vote after making the final shortlist of three, and brought to life by mural artist Miguel Fons over nearly two weeks of painting.

We've ranked fourth in England for social mobility into higher education! 👏

The Social Mobility Commission's new Who Gets In? report shows that 76% of the students who joined us came from the least advantaged half of the population, and we rank among the strongest performers in London.

We deliver a range of collaborative projects that encourage students from all backgrounds to pursue higher education, designed around the real needs and barriers young people face as they consider university, helping to build both their skills and their confidence.

As a result, the University of Westminster is a diverse community of more than 21,000 students drawn from nearly 170 nations 🌍

We're proud to announce a new research partnership between the Westminster Menswear Archive and Fred Perry, ahead of the brand's 75th anniversary ✨

Professor Andrew Groves and Dr Danielle Sprecher have been examining Fred Perry's origins, drawing on personal archives, patents, garments and sporting press to uncover the people, decisions and collaborations that took the brand from tennis courts to cultural icon status.

The partnership forms part of Fred Perry Retold, the creative direction for the anniversary year. The project will revisit the brand's history while using new archival research to inform how its story is presented to future audiences.

As Fred Perry looks ahead to 2027, it's our students and researchers helping uncover the story behind the brand. Congratulations to all involved 👏
