What a fantastic class in London with this lovely bunch! Another Heroes & Monsters 1 class in which we explored lots of ways to build digital character physicality and embodiment. I wish these classes could last longer, as there’s always so much to squeeze in, but we had a great time bringing a huge variety of characters to life, for consideration in Cinematic shoots as well as for locomotion.
Keep breathing, keep loving and keep Vaulting!!

This advance class pushed our student to level up today and they did not disappoint!
These performers brought their AAA game and raised the bar for each other.
Mock auditions and exercises that put them in a challenging yet friendly competitions, helped each other to maximize their potential, embrace their pure imagination, go full on full out and to trust their instincts!

What a great workout class today for The Mocap Vaults in Los Angeles!
These workout classes have been an awesome way to bring our community together to train, hone our skills and to stay creative.
Every exercise challenges, our students and pushes them to be smarter and better in their choices every time.
We dance, we laugh, and we share in everyone’s victory.
I look forward to these every month to see alumni and current students in the program come together and share the experience.

Sunday September 13th
For our students who have completed CQB 1.

In this four hour advanced class, you’ll learn to put your skills to use in simulated scenarios and learn advanced skills ranging from dynamic shooting platforms, small team tactics and handling multiple weapons like a Tier 1 military operator. This class will take your skills to new heights.
Numbers are reduced to sixteen students to allow for a more focused approach at this level.

Just Announced - INTRO TO PERFORMANCE CAPTURE in LOS ANGELES with “THE MOCAPMAN” Richard Dorton on:
Saturday September 12th 2026

A physical day of exercises, play and exploration as well as some theory on the technology and methodology of how motion and performance capture works with industry veteran Richard “Mocapman” Dorton. This is a chance to build a solid foundation for working in performance capture.

Spend the day learning the difference between cinematic and In-game movement creation to discovering what animators and directors want out of their performance capture talent. Explore video game scripts, the importance of improv, the world of pure imagination and more tips and tricks than you would expect in an intro class from someone who’s been working in the Performance Capture world for over 25 years.

Richard Dorton has earned his stripes from being called on to overcome a vast array of challenges in the volume for decades. He has developed iron clad techniques that are fast, effective and catch the eye of every director and game developer. In this masterclass they will share those trade secrets and techniques with you.

Just announced - INTRO TO MOCAP in TORONTO with Mocap expert Pascal Langdale
Sunday Sept 13th

A day with mocap master Pascal Langdale, building a solid foundation for working in performance capture. A physical day of exercises, play and exploration as well as some theory on the technology and methodology of how mocap works.

Pascal Langdale is an actor known for his reliable versatility across multiple media. He has worked in TV, Film, Video Game and Voice. He is a movement specialist with an expertise in nonverbal behavior, and brings his characters to life through voice, body and psychology - all adjusted to the demands of the medium.

Recent mocap work includes Hondo Ohnaka mocap for Star Wars Outlaws, Far Cry 6 (complex Body doubling) and the voice of Bagley in Watch Dogs: Legion for which he was nominated for a Canadian Game Award. This also saw him mocap the performances for many of the NPC’s, and was movement choreographer, specialising in gesture and physicality. Once privately described by a colleague as “The Swiss Army Knife” of Motion Capture acting, Pascal has worked on numerous video games since his first role as Ethan Mars in Heavy Rain, in Voice, Mocap and Performance capture, Actor performance matching, reverse ADR, Facial Capture Operation and demo production.

Pascal co-wrote “Performing for Motion Capture” for Bloomsbury Methuen, with Director and Co-founder of The Mocap Vaults, John Dower. This is the world’s first in depth resource for the education of the next generation of actors facing an increasing use of digital production not only drawing on the combined experience of the MCV teachers, but also conducting interviews with over twenty experts in all stages of the pipeline.

What a great day for a Heroes and Monsters 1 Class for The Mocap Vaults in Los Angeles.
The 2nd class in our curriculum that really starts to explore character creations and specialty movement that is essential to motion and performance capture work.
It was exciting watching our students ride the fine line between heroes and monsters and creating unique physicality to help tell stories with these characters.
This is a great day for group work, trust and empathy and by the end of the day we really become family.
Thanks to our class tutors DARREN BAILEY Jarrell Hall for their guidance, input and for always working hard to help our students level up.
Heroes and Monsters 2 will challenge you even more and we can’t wait to see the creativity you bring to that class. You made us very proud today.

A one day advanced masterclass with Richard Dorton, assisted by mocap veterans & staff tutors DARREN BAILEY & Jarrell Hall working on more advanced character and environment creation techniques for motion & performance capture. A physical day of exercises exploring professional techniques for creating environments, worlds, props and other characters in your imagination.

Building on the skills you learned in Heroes & Monsters 1, this takes things to the next level, giving you advanced, practical skills that are essential for creating and playing characters and living in imaginary worlds. Enhanced skills that are at the core of a successful performance capture career.

One of the most important tasks for any performance capture actor is to fully realize detailed environments that can be interacted with and responded to. Whether it is the extraordinary landscape of Avatar, the cybernetic and digital Oasis from Ready Player One, or the harsh battlefields of Call of Duty, we need to have a consistent method for building rich, detailed and stable worlds in our minds. This class will teach you the skills to do this in a way that goes beyond thinking and into a physical, experiential realm. You won’t need to think about how cold the tundra is, you will already be shivering!

Just Announced - Arm Extensions 1 - Los Angeles - with Jarrell Hall Jarrell Hall and Richard Dorton Richard Dorton on Saturday August 29

You MUST have completed Heroes & Monsters 1 to attend this class.
 
This class allows us to connect the work we have already done on character developments and environments but now delve deeper into the physical and technical world to create monsters, aliens and fantastical creatures that will enable you to put those skills into practice utilizing arm extensions.
 
Staff Tutor Jarrell Hall will lead you as we explore the most common types of motion capture work dealing with creatures, learn how to extract critical information from directors and animators, and develop the skills that will allow you to be more self-reliant and creative in the volume.
 
This class follows our Heroes and Monsters series and, it serves as an excellent preparation for the demanding physical skills it takes to specialize in creature performance.
 
Due to the highly physical nature of this course, it is highly recommended that participants are aware of any. previous or current injuries that could prevent them from participating in the class.

Time: 10am to 2pm on Saturday August 29, 2026
Location: Mihran K Studios 135 N. Victory Blvd. Burbank, CA 91502

This class does not take place in a mocap studio as it would only serve as a distraction and additional cost at this stage.
