Sometimes I catch myself thinking so deeply about hypothetical worries about the future or replaying past mistakes that I have to shake my head to come back to the present moment, to step out of the loop of my thoughts.

Eckhart Tolle says that the form of the present moment can often feel like a limitation, like something is getting in the way of the life we want. The body may be struggling. Life may not be moving in the direction we hoped. The moment in front of us may feel uncomfortable, disappointing or difficult.

But when we stop fighting it for a moment and say “This is what is” a little space opens up. And in that small space between what is happening and our resistance to it, perhaps we can breathe again.

This is one of the reasons I practise yoga. To come back to the body when my mind has travelled too far into the past or future. To feel what is here before trying to escape it, fix it or turn it into something else.

What if presence is the whole point?

the more I practise and teach, the less interested I become in doing things the “right” way. and it made me more curious I about what feels true to me.

I wrote more about this in my latest article. Link in bio. I’d love to know what you think. What do you normalize in your practice? 🫪🫵🏻

“The romantic quality of love, which is between separate entities, is a doorway into deeper love. A lot of people experience a quality they call ‘love’ but they’re doing it with their mind, they’re not really opening their hearts fully, they are loving, meaning ‘I am attracted to’ … or ‘I am attached to’.

When we talk about love versus fear, for example, we are talking about ‘being’ versus ‘fear’, or ‘unity’ versus ‘separateness’.

So I would say that when the fear dissipates you are feeling at home in the universe. Meaning your identity with your separateness isn’t overriding your feeling of connection with everything to the point that you’re feeling cut off and vulnerable - which is where the root of the fear is.

So as you cultivate that unitive quality, the fear dissipates, so the relation is one between love and fear, but it’s not the love in the sense of ‘I love you’, it’s the sense that we are together in the space of love.”
