MDD LATE NIGHT, TONIGHT IN MAYFAIR

Tonight, Mayfair Design District comes alive after hours for MDD Late Night, with galleries, showrooms and hotels across Mayfair opening their doors for a special evening of design.

It’s also a perfect opportunity to visit Curated Connections, Chapter 5: Reflections at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair and discover contemporary Polish design by Aneta Kocia, Magdalena Zarychta and Zieta Studio. The exhibition runs until 31 January 2027.

Aneta Kocia presents sculptural ceramic works from her UNDERTOW series. Built entirely by hand, layer by layer, their irregular, undulating forms evoke the movement of water, eroded rock and the natural forces that shape landscapes over time.

Magdalena Zarychta presents her Pulsars, hand-blown glass sculptures shaped while hot and impressed by hand. Their reliefs preserve traces of gesture and movement, while changing light reveals shifting layers of colour and transparency. The series combines traditional glassblowing with forms inspired by structures found in living organisms.

And discover Zieta Studio’s Crystal Totem and Crystal Monoliths, mirror-polished steel sculptures that reflect and refract their surroundings, creating shifting, kaleidoscopic impressions.

MEET THE DESIGNER: TOMEK RYGALIK

Opening today at Mint Gallery, Curated Connections, Chapter 6: Blueprint, part of Mayfair Design District, presents the work of Polish designer Tomek Rygalik, alongside Mati Sipiora and Formsophy.

Founder of Studio Rygalik, Tomek works across furniture, product design and architecture, collaborating with leading Polish and international brands including Cappellini, Moroso, Ghidini, Paged, Profim, Siemens and IKEA. Alongside his design practice, he is an educator and co-founder of the interdisciplinary DesignNature community and its creative campus in Sobole.

For Blueprint, Tomek presents Miss Irony (2026), a striking work combining industrial iron and burned wood. The piece explores the tension between our attachment to comfort and the raw austerity of the natural world. An iron table is forcefully embedded into burned wood, bringing the manufactured and the natural into a provocative physical encounter.

Miss Irony questions conventional ideas of luxury and comfort, proposing instead a return to something more primal, direct and elemental.

MEET THE DESIGNERS: FORMSOPHY

Opening tonight at Mint Gallery, Curated Connections, Chapter 6: Blueprint, part of Mayfair Design District, presents the work of Polish artist duo Formsophy, alongside Tomek Rygalik and Mati Sipiora.

Formsophy, founded by Alicja Prussakowska and Jakub Kijowski, creates sculptural objects that balance material experimentation with a refined artistic vision. Both are graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Alicja in Product Design and Jakub in Sculpture.

Working primarily with aluminium and stone, they explore casting techniques and the natural behaviour of materials. They describe their aesthetic as romantic brutalism, bringing together raw, elemental forms with subtle craftsmanship and careful attention to proportion, texture and detail.

Each piece is unique, shaped by the tension between wildness and precision, monumentality and intimacy, material force and artistic control.

Their work has been presented internationally, including at Milan Design Week, NOMAD St. Moritz and Collect 2026 in London. This year, they return to Mint Gallery for their second collaboration with the Curated Connections series during London Design Festival.

MEET THE DESIGNER: MATI SIPIORA

Opening this week at Mint Gallery, Curated Connections, Chapter 6: Blueprint, part of Mayfair Design District, presents the work of Polish designer and craftsman Mati Sipiora, alongside Tomek Rygalik and Formsophy.

Founder of his eponymous furniture brand, Mati develops his work within his family’s metalworking workshop in Czepino, Poland. Combining contemporary design with traditional metalworking techniques, he creates small-batch pieces made entirely by hand.

Holding a PhD in design and with more than a decade of experience in industrial design, Mati returned to his family workshop to develop an independent practice rooted in craftsmanship, material exploration and conscious production. Working primarily with traditional tools and deliberately avoiding automated manufacturing, his pieces are defined by minimalist forms, precision and the natural qualities of steel.

For Blueprint, Mati will present his Poodle Armchair, designed in 2023. Its sculptural stainless-steel tubular frame is paired with a soft shearling seat, bringing together an expressive, almost playful silhouette with comfort and functionality.

WARSAW - DAY 1 🇵🇱

The first day of our Art, Craft, Design & Architecture press trip to Warsaw - and the beginning of three inspiring days exploring the city’s creative scene.

We were delighted to welcome our wonderful guests Anne-Laure Pingreoun from Mayfair Design District, Helen Gonzalez Brown from Disegno Journal and Samta Nadeem from STIR Global - all discovering Warsaw for the very first time.

We started at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (MSN). A huge thank you to Józefina Bartyzel and the MSN team for such a wonderful introduction and tour of the museum.

From there, we continued to the Gawrońskich Villa for “Polish Modernism. A Struggle for Beauty”, meeting the exhibition’s curators alongside some of the brilliant artists and designers whose work is part of the show.

We ended the day at Rygalik’s gallery, with another inspiring conversation about Polish design and creativity.

So many conversations, discoveries and new creative connections in just one day - and such a pleasure to experience Warsaw through the eyes of people discovering it for the first time.
