Speaker Announcement: Dr Kat Navrouzoglou
Topic: Constructing Eco-Anxiety in Psychology and Psychotherapy: Exploring the Gap Between the Individual and the Political
Dr Kat Navrouzoglou is a Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist currently working within a community mental health team in Nottingham. Having recently completed her doctorate at the Metanoia Institute, her research explored how eco-anxiety is constructed and understood by psychotherapists, with a particular focus on how these understandings shape the ways climate-related distress is recognised and responded to in therapeutic practice.
Drawing on her doctoral research, Dr Navrouzoglou's presentation explores key findings from interviews with psychotherapists and examines the implications for how eco-anxiety is understood, constructed and addressed within clinical practice.

AI in Therapy: Ethical Decision Making in Practice is a 3-hour interactive and experiential CPD workshop designed for therapists, trainees and supervisors who are curious about the growing presence of AI in practice and want space to think more deeply about its ethical and relational implications.
The workshop explores the use of AI within therapeutic and supervisory practice through discussion, reflection, case scenarios and experiential exercises. Rather than focusing primarily on the technical side of AI, the training invites practitioners to reflect critically and ethically on when, why and whether AI should be used within clinical work and supervision.
The session is designed to be interactive, encouraging participants to engage with uncertainty, reflect on their own responses to AI, and explore the tensions emerging within contemporary practice.

Speaker Announcement: Briony Martin
Topic: Holding the hand of a dying society: new/ancient directions for therapists responding to climate and eco-anxiety
Therapists are trained to sit with uncertainty and loss, yet we seem to have joined the collective social denial about the reality of the climate crisis. How can we harness our role as therapists to serve our communities as we together face increasing uncertainty, change and loss?
This July, Briony Martin will be joining us for Meaningful Conversations - Climate Anxiety: Implications for Psychotherapy.
Briony is a psychotherapist, supervisor, therapy educator and practitioner researcher who works with adult clients and supervisees in Wiltshire. Briony is also an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick and is currently studying for a Professional Doctorate with Chester University. She co-chairs the Pluralistic Practice Network’s Research Group, is a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance, and is also involved in long-term anti-racist and White-aware personal work.
Briony’s contribution will apply decolonial and anti-oppressive perspectives to climate anxiety, explore ancient archetypes of ‘priest’, ‘healer’ and ‘witness’, and also draw upon the learnings of the COVID era to think about therapists’ potential gifts and skills within communities facing climate anxiety.

At Metanoia, we understand that health is mental as well as physical.
This International Men's Health Week, we're reflecting on the importance of widening access to mental health services across communities and ensuring that men and boys have the information, confidence and support they need to seek help when they are struggling. The week highlights the importance of breaking down barriers to support and encouraging men to take positive steps towards better health and wellbeing.
Too often, stigma, social expectations and a lack of awareness can prevent people from reaching out for help. By encouraging open conversations about mental health and improving access to high-quality therapeutic services, we can help create a future where no one feels they have to face challenges alone.
This week is an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and reinforce the message that seeking support is a sign of strength. Small steps can make a meaningful difference.

Speaker Announcement: Dr. Chiara Hill-Harding
Topic: From hope and action to giving up: Why coping with climate change emotions is more complex than we think
To be able to live a fulfilling life in this changing climate, people need to cope with the emotional impacts of climate change. However, coping with climate change is not straight-forward.
This July, Dr. Chiara Hill Harding will be joining us for Meaningful Conversations - Climate Anxiety: Implications for Psychotherapy.
Dr. Chiara Hill-Harding a researcher with a background in psychology and, more recently, public health. Chiara currently works as post-doctoral research assistant at the University of Glasgow, where her research focuses on better understanding and supporting the move towards a more sustainable NHS healthcare system. Prior to this, she investigated the emotional wellbeing impacts of climate change in her PhD research, with a particular focus on climate anxiety and climate change-related emotional experiences.
Chiara’s contribution will dive into the complexity of how climate change impacts our emotional wellbeing, the coping strategies people use to live with these, and why some forms of coping aren’t helpful in this context.
