It’s official - we’re having a Christmas party on 14 December, 1pm - 3pm. 🎄 All are welcome! ⭐️ Come and celebrate the end of term Christmas style! There will be festive treats, holiday quizzes and plenty of opportunities to practise your English with students and teachers. All we ask is that you bring some food and wear something Christmasy, so anything red, green or yellow! ❤️💚💛
See you there! ✨
Reaching the end of a week studying English deserves a celebration! Alex and Harmi’s class shared food from their countries today, and it was delicious! 🌮🥗🍕
Well done on completing another week of studying! 📚
Just as adventurous and spontaneous as she describes herself, Camilla worked with us for two years in person before she went on another big adventure to Scotland! She now teaches mainly online and specialises in private English tutoring with a focus on environmentalism! 🌍 She’s an incredible teacher with a real passion for the industry. 💚
We said goodbye to a group of Chilean students two weeks ago. 🇨🇱👋 Thank you for choosing to study English at our school! We hope to see you again someday in the future - good luck with your studies! 💙📕✏️
Rebecca’s ‘Afternoon Tea Parties’ are legendary! ☕️🫖 They are a great occasion to practise your English with new students, eat sweet treats and try some authentic British tea! 🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧
Thank you to all who came! You made it one of our most highly attended tea parties since the pandemic. 💙 Our next party will be a Christmas party on the 14 December at 1-3pm. 🎄❄️
Our teacher Jack has a secret to tell… he’s never had a Coca-Cola! 😱😉 In spite of this, we admire his dedication to his lessons and his students. ✏️📕 He’s one of our teachers who teaches online classes, so if you can’t come to our school in person, you may see him on your computer screen one day! 💻
Congratulations to two of our Elementary Chilean students, Carolliny and Benjamin! ⭐️ We loved having you at our school and we hope to see you back in London one day! 🇬🇧
Our students study English for different reasons, and learn in different ways, but at the end of the day they all come together to support and help each other improve. We love our students! Thank you for being amazing! ❤️🥳👏
A big congratulations to Ani for completing her General English course! It was great to see you move up levels and improve your English skills. We really hope it helps you succeed in your career! Good luck from all WLES crew. 👏🧡
Our OET Course Director, Harmi, will be doing a free live lesson on ‘Active and Passive Forms in Healthcare Writing’ next Tuesday, 21/11/23. Make sure to tune into our YouTube channel, -uk , to watch at 2pm!
It’s time for our Director of Studies’ teacher profile - David! 🙌 Alongside our Managing Director, Asif, and academic management team, he manages and oversees the running of our school. He works closely with our teachers and office staff to ensure we are delivering high quality teaching experiences. Experienced, knowledgeable and well-liked by staff and students, we can think of no one better to help lead our school! 📚✏️
Finishing an English course is a proud moment for student and teacher alike! 👏🏻🥹 Here, our teachers Harmi and Monika stand proudly next to their successful students. Well done for smashing your English courses! 💪
When you finish your English course, it’s a joyous occasion! Your class all comes together to celebrate your achievement and you get a certificate that states what course you studied and at what time. It’s a useful document to have! 🧠

A big congratulations to Isabela from Monika’s intermediate class for completing her General English course! We’re so proud of you and we wish you all the best for the future! 👏
Mina is an amazing teacher who joined us last year. She has both English and Turkish heritage and is currently studying a masters in Software Engineering! Keen-eyed students will notice her favourite word is a reference to Harry Potter, as a symbol of love between the characters Snape and Lily. A true Potterhead! ⚡️
When you feel great, you want to express it as best you can! This idiom can be used for when you feel extremely happy, do you know the missing word in the idiom?
Many of our socials give you the opportunity to explore iconic museums in London, like The V&A, with your teachers and classmates. You can practise your conversation skills while learning about what makes London such a cultural place to live!
Ordering song lyrics is a great way to improve your reading and listening skills in English! Whether you predict what the song’s about, or use language clues to put the lyrics in the correct order, it’s a fun, engaging activity. Sally’s Intermediate class had fun doing just that at the end of last week! 🎶
What’s your favourite English song?
After a busy week, we all need to rest! Do you know this phrasal verb for when we stay in bed later than usual in the morning? Comment your answer! 💤🛌😴
Studying English can build up an appetite! Our upper intermediate students shared a feast from around the world last week and it was scrumptious!
What’s your favourite food from your country?
Our biscuit loving Assistant Director of Studies, Jamie, has been with us since 2015, making him one of the longest serving teachers at our school! He is incredibly knowledgeable about the English language and has many tips and tricks. We are very lucky to have him! ⭐️
What’s been your favourite experience with Jamie?
No rain could stop Rebecca from taking our students on a trip to Chiswick House and Gardens last week. They enjoyed walking along the Thames, seeing the last flowers of summer and the first signs of autumn around the grand house. 🏰
Our teacher Jane is known for her positive attitude and good sense of humour! She’s always laughing with students and enjoys the fun that comes with teaching English. A keen actor, she knows a lot about plays and musicals - and she has a lovely dog called Luna!
What’s been your favourite experience with Jane?
A new month means new socials! We have some great activities planned this spooky month. Take a look, pick your favourite, and send us a message if you want to sign up! 🍁👻🧡
Today is a very special day - it’s teacher’s day! We’d love to hear about your experiences with your favourite teacher at our school. Show them some love! 💙
A big congratulations to another successful student from one of our many intermediate classes. Well done Yuriko for finishing your course! We wish you all the best for the future. ⭐️🤩⭐️
Greenwich is like a little village located in East London, home to cute independent shops and the National Maritime Museum! Rebecca took our students on an adventure around its cobbled streets, learning about shipbuilding and Britain’s vast naval history.
A cultural way to spend a Thursday!
The last day of Monika’s elementary class in our vibrant red room last week! Well done everyone for your hard work and dedication to improving your English!
How can I improve my speaking? Is one of the biggest questions we get asked at our school, and a great way to do this is by having more conversations in English. Speaking tasks are incorporated into all of our lessons, like in Monika’s Intermediate afternoon class! They used the grammatical structure “used to” to talk about what their lives were like in the past.
What did you use to do?
At the end of term some of our classes like to throw a party to celebrate all of their hard work, which is just what Liberty’s upper intermediate class did. Homemade snacks and treats were shared and congratulations given!
Today was the end of term for some of our classes! Students completed their courses and received their certificates, like Dian and Yoko in Monika’s intermediate class. We wish you both all the best for the future! ⭐️
Our school is very lucky to have multicoloured classrooms! We think they add a bright, happy feel to our school and create a positive learning environment. 🌈
What do you think? Do you have a favourite classroom?
Battersea Park is a beautiful, Victorian park next to Battersea Power Station and Rebecca took our students on a tour of it last week. The students saw a Chinese Pagoda, a large lake and many trees on the cusp of changing colour. 🍁
We recommend checking the area out as it’s one of London’s finest parks and Battersea Power Station has just been converted into a new shopping centre! 🛍️
Another summer has gone and we delivered another fantastic junior social programme! We had more students and activities than ever before and we’re thankful to everyone who took part in them and made it all possible.
Make sure to join us next year to see the friends you made from around the world and your favourite teachers too, and have the best summer ever! 🙌
Goodbyes were shared in our Upper Intermediate Saturday class as a student and teacher move on! Congratulations Aya for completing your 30 day English challenge with us! We wish you all the best for the future and your dreams of becoming a pilot. ✈️
