Junior Guildhall

Junior Guildhall Junior Guildhall is a specialist Saturday School offering advanced training for ages 4 – 18.

Students come together to experience and learn about music and drama under the guidance of staff drawn from London’s orchestras and freelance professionals, and senior professors of Guildhall School. Junior Guildhall students often go on to study their chosen discipline full-time at undergraduate level, eventually making careers in the profession, though others can, and do, move into totally diffe

rent fields. Junior Guildhall music alumni include Thomas Adès, Lucy Parham and Myleene Klass, whilst drama alumni include Douglas Booth and Barney Walsh. Regardless of a student’s ultimate direction, the professional artistic environment of Guildhall School provides valuable life skills and the means to develop individual talents to the full. Whilst students will be expected to work hard and will be encouraged to fulfil their potential, they can expect to have plenty of fun with like-minded friends in a nurturing and safe environment. Junior Guildhall is part of Guildhall Young Artists, Guildhall School’s network of centres across the country, providing inspiring performing arts training for children and young people.

AN INSPIRING JUNIOR GUILDHALL STRADIVARIUS WORKSHOP WITH ANDREW BERNARDI

on Saturday 27 June, Junior Guildhall students enjoyed a fascinating workshop with acclaimed violinist Andrew Bernardi, who shared the remarkable history of his priceless 1696 Amici Bernardi Stradivarius, before demonstrating its extraordinary sound.

A special highlight was Lutine Prize finalist Evie Cooper being invited to perform on the Stradivarius - an unforgettable opportunity for a young musician.

Andrew also spoke about how he uses this exceptional instrument in charitable concerts to raise funds for music education initiatives, helping to create opportunities for the next generation of musicians.

A huge thank you to Andrew for an inspiring session that brought together music, history and philanthropy.

An overwhelming success!

As the end of the summer term fast approaches, we take a look back at some of the highlights from the past month.

Our Viola Day was a particular success, with 26 viola/violin students experiencing the unique qualities of the viola (some for the first time) through chamber music and large ensemble activities, culminating in an informal concert for parents.
