If you’ve followed me for a while you know I’m a little bit anti‑systems. I genuinely don’t believe society is set up for families... women... The government paints this picture of “support” (extending breakfast clubs, longer school days, wraparound care) but let’s be real, that’s not family support - that’s keeping parents in work to keep taxes flowing!!

We all feel the pressure of parenting while trying to earn enough to survive in this ridiculous cost of living crisis, and don’t even get me started on mothers’ equality in the workplace.

My thoughts are… is this the trap the system wants us to be in?

I’m not one to shy away from calling things out, but I’m also not a b***h - this isn’t a mean post, it’s not guilt‑tripping, it’s not aimed at parents - it never is! - I hope you know by now that’s not who I am.

I’m seeing so many posts about parents struggling to spend time with their kids through the summer holidays, and it’s honestly made me stop and think: have we built a society where school has quietly become the default childcare system? And if so… is this because the UK is set up wrong for families? (I know the answer to that one!)

Before school age, how did families cope - was it community, flexible work, shared care? (I've never had a village so solo-parenting has always been my 'normal').

Have we lost something? If school didn't exist would you have still started a family? Or did people genuinely have children knowing that in five years’ time school would take over?

I'm genuinely curious about this... I know we all have different circumstances... And life changes.. but, what are your experiences and/or thoughts? 🙏🏼❤️🩷✨

❤️ HALF TERM HOLIDAY PRICING:

Our holiday sessions are relaxed and playful, offering a gentle carousel of nature‑rich activities for children to dip in and out of at their own pace.

While still rooted in Rumbo’s ethos of curiosity, connection and hands‑on learning, these days are craft‑based, child‑led and designed to feel spacious and joyful.

Children can explore the garden, create with natural materials, join in seasonal projects, and enjoy open‑ended play in our outdoor spaces. Unlike our Home Education term‑time blocks, holiday sessions do not include formal evidence or certificates - they are simply a chance for children to unwind, create, and enjoy the magic of the garden during the school break.

🩷 HOME EDUCATION PRICING:

Our Home Education programme runs in 4‑week blocks, each exploring a different nature‑based theme. Each 4 week block is designed as a complete, self contained unit. Families are welcome to join for as many or little blocks as preferred. No commitment.

Children attend for four consecutive Mondays minimum, and each week builds on the last through hands‑on horticulture, floriculture, sustainability and seasonal learning.

Every session includes an hour of garden jobs and skills, creative exploration time, and focused themed activities.

Rumbo resource sheets are provided weekly so children can build a personal learning folder, and each 4‑week unit culminates in a certificate and evidence of learning.

We teach 4 weeks out of every 6–7 week term, followed by a week off before half term, allowing us to reset the garden, prepare the next seasonal block and take advantage of cheaper travel 😉. Across the academic year, Garden Club offers six themed units, each designed to deepen children's connection with nature and develop real outdoor skills.

Fully compliant with The Children's Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026 - all paperwork provided upon booking.

My littlies LOVE them...
I have done since I was little and my lovely Nan used to make them talk to me in her garden 🥹

Now I'm an adult, they've been promoted to garnishing a glass of something cold and fancy! 😝I also use them weekly, along with other edible flowers to add some beautiful colour to my 'Rumbo Salad'.

Everything in our garden is edible - we rush outside to pick and garnish and it adds a little bit of beauty to our day.
