Delving into degree apprenticeships 📚

A number of our Year 13 Students had the pleasure of attending a talk with Forest School alumni, Dashiell Ratcliffe, this week.

After finishing Sixth Form earlier this year, Dashiell was keen to embark upon a degree apprenticeship and landed a much sought after opportunity with BAE Systems.

Dashiell shared his experience and general tips on the application process with the group, with all of the students stating that they found the session incredibly valuable.

One student even fed back that their key take-away was: “Make sure to research the companies you apply to in detail, make sure to apply as soon as you see the application open, and try to demonstrate practical skills as well as academic skills.”

On Wednesday 26 June we were delighted to welcome Simon Speare, Head of Composition at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, who gave an insightful and inspirational lecture on composition to our Year 10 GCSE Music pupils. Simon spoke passionately about his own compositions, techniques for approaching new works, and gave excellent advice to our pupils and their own compositions. Thomas and Yanis also performed one of Simon’s compositions for two cellos, which gave us a fascinating insight into his sound world. Thank you, Simon, for sharing your knowledge with our pupils and we hope to welcome you back in the future!

Coasteering was brilliant - we went inside a cave.
The bug farm was so cool and the food was great.
Everything about the bug farm was just so good!
We saw some very interesting rocks, puffins, kitty wake and a Peregrine falcon (from afar)! on the boat trip.
