The Hummingbirds garden had a few lovely surprises for us today 🌸🌷🌱The children loved making blossom cakes and check the veggie patch!

🏃‍♂️⚽️⛳️Shout out to .playball and our amazing teachers! The children just love joining in their incredibly tailored and prepared sessions every Friday morning. We can see how much more confident in their movements and gross motor skills they become after attending just a few sessions.

🪱When a child starts at Hummingbirds, the presentation of the wormery is often followed by a firm “Yuck!” But that usually does not last long as our little ones love bringing the worms some food, observing how they wiggle in their home and some even ask to have a 'wiggly woo' placed on their palm. Real little explorers!🪱

“Children need the freedom to appreciate the infinite resources of their hands, their eyes and their ears, the resources of forms, material, sounds, and colours.'” – Loris Malaguzzi We hear sometime that the task of early years educators is to “shape young minds”. To be more accurate, what we are really doing is giving children plenty of opportunities and support so that they can shape their own minds.

⭐️ We are OUTSTANDING ⭐️ We are absolutely delighted to let you know the result of our first Ofsted inspection. Nearly 5 years ago Miss Selina, Miss Grace, Miss Amy and Miss Léna sat down at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park for a picnic, all with a common desire - they wished they could work in a happy and loving environment that placed the needs and learning of the children above all else. In that moment they pledged to do exactly that. The idea of Hummimgbirds Montessori School was born and it has been such an incredible adventure ever since! They have been joined since then by a team of incredibly dedicated teachers, and a whole community of inspiring and enthusiastic children. The team have such admiration for the trust that the parents of their pupils have placed in them.
We love you all! Thank you for making this dream a reality! Thank you for being part of the Hummingbirds Village! And thank you so so much for the beautiful illustration!

The experience of the child is the foundation of further development. Attempting to interest a child in learning something new without understanding where their inquisitive mind is heading is like trying to grow a seed without soil. A shoot might poke through, but the plant won’t last. Often when we ask children which letters they would like to discover, they choose the first letters of the most familiar words in their lives: the first letter of their name then a “d” for daddy and a “m” for mummy. The letter becomes something very familiar, as if it had always been there. 🍂🍂🍂
