We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Aldama Amilcar Cruz (ʿAbd al-Walī), a professor of Islamic thought at the Rafael Cepeda Higher Institute of Religious Sciences (ISECRE), in Havana, Cuba, to the Honorary Fellowship of The Shīʿah Institute, London, U.K.
Professor Cruz’s published works include Léxico enciclopédico de términos técnicos del pensamiento islámico (Árabe-persa-español), vol. 1 (2026); a co-edited volume on Philosophy between The Islamicate and Latin American Traditions: Civilisational Perspectives on Alienation/Ghayriyya in Knowing/Being (2025); and numerous articles on philosophical issues.
Professor Aldama Amilcar Cruz (ʿAbd al-Walī) is one of the finest scholars and luminary minds of the current age. We honour his intellectual contributions to Shia Islamic Studies and wholeheartedly welcome him to the Honorary Fellowship of the Shīʿah Institute, London.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of His Eminence Janāb al-Shaykh Qays Bahjat al-ʿAṭṭār, the Director of Markaz al-Turāth al-Islāmī (Islamic Heritage Centre) Mashhad, Islamic Republic of Iran, to the Honorary Fellowship of The Shīʿah Institute, London, U.K.
His Eminence al-Shaykh Qays Bahjat al-ʿAṭṭār is the compiler of five published books, the editor of twelve major critical editions of foundational sources of Shia Islamic texts, including three different critical editions of the Nahj al-Balāghah, and the author of numerous introductions to primary sources. His contributions to Arabic verse are examples of his outstanding mastery of Arabic language and literature.

Professor Hamid Algar of the University of California, Berkeley is one of the most renowned scholars of Islamic Studies. He has authored more than a dozen books and booklets, many translation works, and over twenty seven articles and chapters on Islamic studies, Arabic and Persian literature, and the history of Islamic Republic of Iran, Türkiye, the Balkans, and Afghanistan. During an era of great change within the Middle East, Professor Algar's scholarly contributions and publications introduced to the world a clear perspective on Shia Islam and Islamic Intellectual History. Professor Mehdi Mohaghegh of Tehran University and the founder and director of the McGill University (Montreal, Canada) Institute of Islamic Studies Tehran Branch is one of the most renowned scholars of Islamic Studies. He has authored more than fifty books and over two hundred and ten articles on Islamic philosophy and mysticism, Persian language and literature, and the history of Islamic medicine.
