They’re found in almost every changing bag, but did you know that nappy sacks can kill small babies?

Young babies under six months naturally grasp things and pull them to their mouths, but then find it difficult to let go or pull them away.

As nappy sacks are flimsy, they can easily cling to a baby’s face as they breathe in and can tragically result in suffocation or choking.

⚠️ Please keep nappy sacks well out of reach of children when changing them and never put them in a buggy or cot.

Rain covers are clear, waterproof covers that you pop over the shell of your pram in wet weather. They’re great at keeping baby dry, but they can also cause overheating. Even rain covers with vents and holes can trap warm air inside. Here’s our advice:

• Remove rain covers when it’s not raining or you go inside.
• Keep air vents open if they're available.
• Check baby’s temperature regularly.
• If baby’s body becomes clammy, remove a layer of clothing.

Government funded hours childcare support: Final weeks for parents to apply for their childcare code for September
Childcare Choices is a cross-government campaign that aims to make more parents aware of the financial support on offer to help them with the cost of childcare and to understand the offers in more detail.

The Department for Education (DfE) is reminding eligible working parents in England making childcare arrangements for September that they need to apply by 31 August for:

15 hours childcare for their child aged 9 months old until they turn 3 years old
30 hours childcare for their 3 or 4 year old

We would be grateful for your support to help parents understand the support available to them, as well as how and when to apply. The DfE has provided key messaging and resources in the newly revised Childcare Choices toolkit: Guidance and resources | Childcare Choices.

Parents should visit gov.uk to get their code for a place in September and then share it with their childcare provider. Parents are encouraged to speak to their provider to find out more about their arrangements. They will have to renew their code every three months through their gov.uk childcare account to continue to receive the government support.

At preschool we are celebrating international dance week- the children will try Albanian dancing today, Colombian dancing tomorrow with our fantastic Spanish teacher Teresa, Romanian dancing on Thursday and Indian dancing on Friday.

If you would like to share a traditional dance with the children you are very welcome, and please let me know so I can book you in xx
