🧡If you are a parent of a child with dyslexia, I just wanted to share something close to my heart.
I have two children with dyslexic thinking. Both have always found spelling tricky and that hasn’t magically disappeared. But here’s the bigger picture…
My daughter achieved A*, A*, A*, A at A level and is now thriving in a finance degree apprenticeship at a bank. My son is currently sitting his A levels and has already secured a degree apprenticeship in financial consulting at a top firm.
Both of them achieved grades 7–9 in GCSE English.
Because English is so much more than spelling.
It’s about ideas, imagination, interpretation and creativity. It’s about seeing things differently, making connections and thinking beyond the obvious. These are the very strengths that so many dyslexic thinkers have in abundance.
I can tell you from experience that dyslexia does not limit future opportunities. If anything, it can open doors. More and more employers actively look for dyslexic thinkers because of the unique perspective, problem-solving skills and creativity they bring.
So if your child is finding things difficult right now, especially with spelling or written accuracy, please don’t let that define how you see their potential.
There is so much more ahead of them.
I’ve shared a brilliant short video below from Made By Dyslexia called ‘What is Dyslexia?’ that really captures this message beautifully.🧡
