King's Medicineafrica The King's MedicineAfrica Project works with local partners to build capacity in the Somaliland heal Since 2013, the programme has been expanding rapidly.

The King's MedicineAfrica project delivers online training, education and support to healthcare workers and students in Somaliland using the website www.medicineafrica.com. This project is a part of the King's THET Somaliland Partnership (KTSP) which is a partnership between King's Health Partners, the Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) and a number of health care delivery and training institutions in Somaliland. Since 2000 KTSP has worked with a number of institutions in towns across Somaliland, particularly with the main hospitals in Hargeisa and Boroma, and the country’s growing number of healthcare training institutions. KTSP has worked closely with Amoud University, the University of Hargeisa, Edna Adan University Hospital and many others to support both students and staff in developing their clinical and professional skills. Outside of the universities and hospitals, KTSP also works with partners in the Somaliland Nursing and Midwifery Association and the Somaliland Medical Association, to support their work to promote opportunities for continuous professional development. The King’s MedicineAfrica Programme has been in operation since 2008, providing online tutorials for intern doctors and final year medical students in Somaliland, as well as a programme of peer-to-peer mentoring in psychiatry and psychiatry supervision. This page is intended to help our partners find the latest information about what teaching is available, and to share their thoughts and opinions about the programme.

I am writing to invite you to a free online short course in Prescribing on www.MedicineAfrica.com . This is a free online course led by Helen Williams, a consultant pharmacist in London, and taught by pharmacists from King’s Health Partners. The course will start on 5th March 2014 at 8:30pm Somaliland time, and will be every Wednesday at the same time for 8 weeks.

The aim of this course is to support the development of clinical leadership skills in doctors working in Somaliland.

Who is eligible to apply?

Any Somaliland doctor in any specialty interested in taking on clinical leadership duties (including teaching, supervision and coordination of services) Able to commit to ALL course dates in either Hargeisa and Borama (see below)
